It's Debian

It starts. It works. It has all sorts of packages. You can upgade it to Sid ("unstable") and it still works just as fine, the closest thing to Arch that is officially available from the Windows store, likely even better for most people. I even find it funny that it keeps the GNU part of the name. Overall great, so far the only thing I can't get to work is GNOME (desktops which don't require GPU acceleration, like XFCE, seem to work). Makes for a great gateway drug.

Finally, we have Debian proper on WSL

I added my favourite shell and packages and it's no different, really, than my debian machine - except it's running through WSL. I shall be spending the majority of my time in debian now that I can. Only will make use of Windows for games and such. The best of both worlds.

The Wonder of Linux on Windows never ceases

Welcome, Debian! I was shocked yesterday when Kali was available, and now Debian is next! Its a great day. :) Other than that, well, it is Debian 9.3 - pure and simple.

Debian without the VM

Works great for console based work. Had to solve the "Unsupported console settings." error on initial launch via: Open cmd.exe; Right click title bar -> Properties; Uncheck Use legacy console; Click OK.

I hate the icon

Make something that looks at least as good as the Windows tile.

Debian is best distro

I run debian on my laptop, and have wanted to only use it, but no allot of games or creation programs can run on a Linux kernel {hopefully this will work well} $sudo apt install Debian-GNU/Linux

not stable and Arabic letters don't appear

please support Arabic letters ,,, Arabic letters don't appear in it \ also it is not stable for example open vi editor and try to delete or move from side to side and see how it interact!

Fails to Install, Errors with unexplained hex code

Have Suse and Ubuntu versions installed so isn't a configuration issue. Downloads ok and adds Start Menu entry, but fails to launch when selecting that entry.

lacks basic preinstalled tools

Absolutely lacking some basic packages installed, users need to run this: sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade && sudo apt install aptitude sudo aptitude install ~pstandard ~prequired ~pimportant -F% Like... you can't even man apt because it doesn't have man installed. This is hilarious.
