Updating app review

At first I was having problems with the app, but after reinstalling it, the app works almost perfectly. The only minor issue is that NFC tags don't always work. However this is the best Hue app I've ever used (I have tried at least 5 including iPhone apps) because of the amount of features it offers- light and room management, alarms, color pickers, etc. I especially like the ability to set alarms!

Better than the iOS/Android native app!

I set up my Hue system, using the terrible Phillips app on an Android tablet, thinking that would be the best way. On a lark, I looked on the Store here since most of my PCs and tablets are Windows and found this. It is LIGHT YEARS (pun intended) better than the Phillips app, and better than anything I saw on Android. This is simple, very native Windows 10 'feel', fast, efficient, and so much easier to use. I got to put my Android tablet back in the drawer where it belongs. If you use Hue you need this program.

Incredible experience, but still missing a few features

This minimalist app will let you control your hue bridge and any connected lights. The functionality is great and it syncs easily. I'm loving the new color picker, but cannot set the default setting for individual lights. When I navigate to the "lights" page and use the icon to turn a light on, it seems to randomly select one of the last colors it was set to and display at a VERY low output. I love the app but wish turning on individual lights was actually useful. I can't wait to see what the next update brings!

Great App

I was ready to return my HUE lights, but after using this app, I decided to keep the lights as this app made them really cool and easy to use - excellent work. I would give 5 stars, but the app is still a little buggy - great start. One big plus is it works on the windows phone - I wish more developers would create apps for the windows phone. A suggestion for this app, let the colorwheel work in the background - when I switch from this app, to another one, the lights stop changing colors.

Geo Fencing

Great app. But since the last update or so my geofencing option doesn't work anymore. I can turn it on set my ip adres. But the next time I open the app it's turned off again... Reinstalling the app didn't fix it.

Hey Kenny, could you send me an email via the in-app contact functionality? This will give me some log data that can help me track your issue! Niels

Great with a few small bugs

Great App. It has tons of potential. Only a small handful of issues. It makes multiple copies of each scene you have saved in other devices. When selecting white colors it turns yellow. Cortana commands never seem to work other than on or off. :-(

Hi Josh, thanks for your feedback - I am looking in the coloring issue, although it's always tricky. Are you using the Cortana voice commands listed on the Cortana Help page? Actually the official app 'hides' scenes from saved on your Bridge, Huetro shows all - you can of course always delete them, or if you want to hide them as well: check the option in the Huetro Settings page! Hope this helps! Niels

Best windows hue app out there

As far as options are concerned, I have no complaints. I do however have some suggestions. It would be nice to he able to modify scenes added from other sources. Like the option to copy it locally and modify it or something. Also, I tried every way possible and I can't get the remote access to work. Is there a tutorial somewhere that explains it? Or maybe share the ports and protocol the app uses to better setup port forwarding. Other than that, have the ability to pin an all lights off tile. Right now we can only pin an all lights on tile.

NielsLaute responded on 5/26/2016

Hey, you can pin the All Off button - long press / right click the all off action in the menu and select 'pin to start'! For remote access: please check your router's manual. You basically have to do the following: go into your routers settings, look up your Bridge's internal IP address. Open up a port (doesn't really matter which one), and forward it to the Bridge's IP address (make that one static btw, so it doesn't break in the future). If you have done this, open Huetro while on wifi. Set up remote access (look up the public IP address with the URL mentioned there) and set the right port you have just opened. I know this is quite cumbersome, but unfortunately the only way for now :(. Hope this helps! Niels Developer Huetro

Problems arising after bridge update...

App seems to be going south after the last bridge update. Besides the usual Cortana commands and geofencing and lighting states not working properly or at all the app stopped recognizing my ge bulbs which was an issue in the beta build. From there it has gotten worse... Now it won't let me access my rooms or lights individually. If the light is on, it will let me turn them off , but that's it. I get the, "can't reach this light messsge " under the light and room menu for all bulbs. Unfortunately us Hue users don't have really any options here on our platform. Snapswitch works well but it's $10 and abandoned like everything else. Might just be as easy to by a cheap android device since nothing on this platform keeps up....

NielsLaute responded on 6/1/2016

Hi Mick, sorry to hear that. I am investigating the issue, but it might be that the Bridge firmware caused some issues - please do not that GE bulbs are not 'officially' supported by Philips Hue. Besides that I am investigating the issue, and hope to fix some issues in the next update. Sorry for the inconvenience, Niels

Version 3 has great improvements

The new UWP app is a huge improvement. The interface is much more streamlined and organized. It is easy to control and set lights from your computer or windows phone The Disco feature is a neat idea but it seems to be limited by the update speeds of the mesh network. Although, defining a light magnitude and color sequence in specific lights would be a neat idea, if that was doable. I have always wanted a science fiction escape lighting path... I wish there were a mechanism to edit existing scenes... currently, you must create a new one if you wish to change something other than the intensity of the lights
