UPDATE: Win10 issues, Win8 PERFECT

On Windows Phone 8 this app is awesome. Stable, reliable and super fast. Note: On Windows 10 mobile this app is now unusable. The scenes list is constantly refreshing in a loop, rendering the app unresponsive. The author is (as you can see by the reply) working on a Win10 version and this makes me quite pleased :)

Great Start

I have the app installed on my phone and PC and it works extremely well! There are a few crashes once in a while, but I chalk that up to the insider preview build I'm running. I would love to see a feature comparable to Hue Disco (app on iOS) that flashes the Hue lights to music. That would be awesome!

Great App!

Great App! Needed help from Developers about difficulty saving scenes. They were quick to respond and very helpful. If anyone has issues with that, upgrade your firmware using the official hue app on iOS or android if it doesn't let you do it in the huetro app from the system info screen.

Best Philips Hue app on Windows

This app works like advertised. When I bought my Hue set I had problems with creating scenes and setting up the alarm. But Niels gave me the solution, just be sure to update your Hue Bridge to the latest through the official Philips Hue app on IOS or Android. Unfortunately this is not possible with windows. After this update everything will work.

Used to be better...

Ever since the major upgrade to support "rooms", I've found the color calibration to be near impossible. I'll have two identical lights sitting on the exact same spot of the color map in a scene, and their colors will be different. The natural color range near the top seems wildly off-point. I miss being able to move lights around as a group within a scene, which largely avoided this problem. Also, clicking on a scene no longer activates the scene for me. Not sure if this is a design update or a bug.

Richard, What type of lights are you using? And what API version is listed when you open up Huetro, and open the hamburger menu, and tap the Bridge icon in the bottom? Niels

Updating app review

At first I was having problems with the app, but after reinstalling it, the app works almost perfectly. The only minor issue is that NFC tags don't always work. However this is the best Hue app I've ever used (I have tried at least 5 including iPhone apps) because of the amount of features it offers- light and room management, alarms, color pickers, etc. I especially like the ability to set alarms!

Platform: Mobile

Nice and working well ...need a bit more for the 4 star and 5 star

Platform: PC

It kind of works

Clicking on the light icon will turn a light off, but only turns it back on dimly. When you click the light name to see all the sliders, it claims it's at max brightness, but you have to lower and raise the bar again to get it to actual max brightness.

Hi Brent, thanks for your feedback! Based on this I was able to re-create the issue on my own system, and I hope to fix it in the next update! Stay tuned! Niels

Better than the iOS/Android native app!

I set up my Hue system, using the terrible Phillips app on an Android tablet, thinking that would be the best way. On a lark, I looked on the Store here since most of my PCs and tablets are Windows and found this. It is LIGHT YEARS (pun intended) better than the Phillips app, and better than anything I saw on Android. This is simple, very native Windows 10 'feel', fast, efficient, and so much easier to use. I got to put my Android tablet back in the drawer where it belongs. If you use Hue you need this program.

Incredible experience, but still missing a few features

This minimalist app will let you control your hue bridge and any connected lights. The functionality is great and it syncs easily. I'm loving the new color picker, but cannot set the default setting for individual lights. When I navigate to the "lights" page and use the icon to turn a light on, it seems to randomly select one of the last colors it was set to and display at a VERY low output. I love the app but wish turning on individual lights was actually useful. I can't wait to see what the next update brings!
