Description

You take another drink as the canvas looms in front of you. A light flickers dimly in the corner. You’ve created countless pieces of art, but never anything like…this. Why haven’t you done this before? It seems so obvious in retrospect. Your friends, critics, business partners—soon, they’ll all see. But something’s still missing… You look up, startled. That melody… Was that a piano? It sounded just like her… But, no—that would be impossible. She’s gone. They’re all gone. Have to focus. How long has it taken to get to this point? Too long, but it doesn’t matter. There will be no more distractions. It’s almost finished. You can feel it. Your creation. Your Magnum Opus. Dare you help paint a true Masterpiece of Fear? Layers of Fear is a first-person psychedelic horror game with a heavy focus on story and exploration. Delve deep into the mind of an insane painter and discover the secret of his madness, as you walk through a vast and constantly changing Victorian-era mansion. Uncover the visions, fears and horrors that entwine the painter and finish the masterpiece he has strived so long to create. Features: • Psychedelic horror – A sense of insanity means each turn of the camera may completely change the look of your surroundings. • Original and classic art – Numerous pieces of original art and music flesh out the story and environment. • Story-focused exploration – Only through exploring the environment can you uncover the details of the painter’s dark and tragic past. • Victorian setting – Explore a game world inspired by masterpiece paintings, architecture and décor from the 19th century.

One of the best horror story games ever!

Story revealed through careful exploration through a world of madness. The story can change based on the choices you make and the revelations are marvelous. If that wasn't enough the phisics are breathtaking and though fairly simple the graphics are clean. Overall this game gives an incredible insight into the mind of a madman. And in the end even the player has trouble dicerning what is true.

a unique experience

this game is a fascinating travel through insanity . the ambience is claustrophobic yet trippy at the same time . there are almost no jumpscares but what makes this a great game is the experience in itself , like no other game on console . it is constantly messing with your mind and with the concept of reality within the game . while it is far too short and none of the puzzles are difficult , it is an experience like no other on this system and definitely worth a play through .

Boring and repetitive

This game is, for all intents and purposes, a walking down the hallway simulator. Cash grab by a dev team trying to play on the Youtube horror game fad, exactly like Among the Sleep, FNAF, and Tattle Tail.

Bad story & poor jump scares

The ending was so cheap. I felt like i spent those hours for nothing. And not saying it was stupid, but all the jump scares were pretty cheap. If you guy's make another horror game, i'd advise better scare tactics than things jumping in your face and making the screen freak out. I'd recommend chase moments, there's just something about getting chased by a monster that gets your heart beating. But thanks for the game and all the hard work you guy's put into it. I know making a game is not easy.

SLOW START, BUT BE PREPARED TO GET YOU ADRENALINE GOING

DO YOU LIKE SCAREY MOVIES?!? This game is guaranteed to get your heart pounding and want to put on a night light for bed. Slow start, and seems boring, but wait till you dive into the brain of the main character. Miss something, great replay value. The game changes as you replay (I remember this door, something jumped at me before, wait, not this time weird, oh well....You turn around and something grabs you!!! That didn't happen in the first playthrough?!? GENIUS:)

Yawn

After about a half hour of trudging through a generic haunted house as an insane person, I was just so bored I couldn't do it anymore. Games like Outlast can at least scare you, because your survival is at stake. There are consequences. You're afraid of getting stabbed to death. In this game, you just sorta wander around and there are some scary things occasionally. But to call them scary is generous, there are a lot of cliches that have been done in so many other games... You go into a room and when you come out it's not the same room. Things move on their own that in real life wouldn't move on their own. Some blood and guts. Some scary sounds. This game did not touch my fight or flight response, and I was just waiting for it to get good until I eventually gave up and shut it off.

One of the most beautifully terrifying experiences

the whole asthetic of the beautiful music, haunting artwork, and the tragic plotline makes this one of my favorite games that i have to play over and over again.

Great Horror Game

Some people complain about how slow the game is or how they cant do much but look around and walk in this game. The thing is, that's the point of this game and makes it better than other horror games. It's very psychological. Any time I felt like the game was starting to repeat, it would twist and surprise me. I haven't been this scared in a long time. The trick to getting the full experience is to take your time and explore everything slowly. I promise this game will raise goosebumps, widen your eyes, and get your heart racing. Some parts might make you not want to open the door or look at that only thing lit up in the room, but to get further, you have to. I had to pause the game many times and take a few breaths before moving on. Sometimes my fear level got too high to continue and I had to stop and play something else haha. The controls do take a little time to get the hang of, but it's worth it. Great game and I'll be recommending it to everyone.
