MetroMail brings a first-class Gmail experience to Windows 8. With support for Gmail-specific features such as archiving, label management, inbox categories, and much more, it offers a fast, efficient, feature-rich Gmail experience. It is also the first email client to bring instant live tile syncing between all your devices, spanning across both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. You no longer need to waste time on emails that you have already managed on another device! MetroMail will operate with full functionality and no ads for 30 days. During this time, you will have the opportunity to fully test the app and evaluate it. After 30 days, ads will be introduced and instant notifications for new emails will be disabled. This includes all notifications across your device, including the live tile and the lock screen. If you want to continue using these features, permanently disable ads, and support future development, we kindly ask that you consider purchasing the app. See today why MetroMail is the fastest growing Gmail client on Windows Phone 8. Works exactly as expected. Mail management is excellent. I don't notice any effort on battery life. Quick, easy to use, excellent app. The best windows phone app that I have used.

Much more details than native mail app. Helps better manage gmail with lots of labels

Not only was I happy to find a client supporting IMAP but nice to get one that isn't junky or spammy. The interface is clean , simple and easy to use. My only request would be the option to put folders in a Favourites category as I have to scroll a bit to find some of them (if the feature is there and I missed it -apologies).

Loving it

Loving it, but the main mail view is a little cluttered. There is button redundancy that could be improved. Also, it would be nice if it showed sender or receiver pictures. Otherwise, great app.

Great application. I love option allowing to reply with or without original message. Grew handling multiple accounts from different providers. Just please make it optional to press back button again when leaving the application. This version correctly displays number of new mails in line tile. The best mail client!

This is the one...

Finally a reliable email option for the Gmail dependent on win8. Easy to set up and use, good refresh rate and notification integration. Wish it would automatically load your inbox folder rather than having to select a folder to read. Portrait viewing option would also be welcome. If the developer could work up a solution for google calendar, then a bit of heaven... Buy it. Certainly worth the price. UPDATE: After having issues after updating from 8.1 to 10, I ended up doing a clean install of 10. Everything works normally again. Not ideal, but a clean install is usually best when switching versions. At any rate, with everything back to normal the above still applies even with the substantial improvements to the windows mail and calendar app. UPDATE 2 8.18.15: Perhaps I spoke too soon. Still has issues at startup. If you go to app settings and then back out of that it will refresh and you can get on with it, but doesn't seem to reliably startup with out issue.

At this time, the Phone app is far better

I like a lot of aspects of the MetroMail for Windows app. It's very similar to what I enjoy about the Windows phone app -- the full Gmail functionality is wonderful, and I really enjoy the Windows 8 interface with its live tile. Unfortunately, at this time the Windows app is quite buggy. Buttons disappear and sometimes don't reappear. Sometimes the app will close unexpectedly while I'm in the middle of typing an e-mail -- and it doesn't get saved in the Drafts folder, either, so it's gone forever. Another issue is that often one of the three main folders just refuses to refresh. The unread count tells you there are new e-mails, but you can't access them because you can't refresh. I know the programmer is great at pushing out bug fixes, so I'm sure this app will get better. But for now I can't 5-star it. ETA: I'm trying this app in Windows 10 and WOW is it buggy. Half the time it just won't start. Down to 3 stars for me. Hoping for improvements.

It retains most of the functionality of Gmail. - Easy to add accounts, even those with 2-step verification. - The Social and Promotion folders work (unlike in TouchMail). That's the good. The bad - There's this choppy work around to prevent Social/Promotion emails from adding to notifications. It's too much hassle so I just disabled notifications. - There's no way to customize the look of different accounts. Adding the account icon in the corner, allowing for different background colors. Both would really help in easily differentiating between multiple accounts.

I like this email client. What I like the most is that you can attach any type of file to an email, not only pictures as with the native WP client. I don't give 5* because the app is very slow to update when you open it and it doesn't download mails in the background, which means that if you don't update it manually, not opening the app for some time, you're missing data. Issues that don't exist with the native app. Fix this and it will be the best email app, no question.
