Version notes

Version number: 2015.511.721.4966

Welcome to the first update of many for our Windows app! Those of you who started countdown timers to see how long until we abandoned it are out of luck I'm afraid. It's nothing personal, but I'd avoid buying lottery tickets if I were you ;) Some new things: - You can now long press on an episode in a list to add it to Up Next. - Added an option in podcast settings to refresh artwork, also tweaked the way artwork is loaded. If you had issues with that, they should now be gone. - Called your mum and wished her a happy mothers day. You're welcome. - You can now download episodes even when 'stream by default' is on. Oops. Some fixes: - Fixed some crashes that have been reported. - Fixed font sizes breaking bits of our app. - Fixed your relationship with that person you've been ignoring. Again, you're welcome. - Custom skip times now work via BT and other external controls. - Fixed issues with speeds higher than 1x, reverting to 1x. Next on our todo list is video playback, world peace, and allowing you to pin ALL THE THINGS. We're not sure why, but you peeps are obsessed with pins. We fear for your local butterfly population is all I'm saying. You're on the Shifty Jelly train now kids, there ain't no stopping it or getting off!

I listen to lots of podcasts, and I've tried most of the Windows Phone apps. This is time best I've seen. I switched over from Podcast Lounge yesterday. The features that made me switch: * variable-speed playback * the (configurable) ability to use the |<< and >>| controls to skip around (which means I can do that via headset and car bluetooth buttons!) * sync with other platforms The only things missing: * sleep timer * ability to pin filters to the start page * "try before buy" option

No updates in 5 months

Very buggy on Redstone builds requiring that I close the app and restart it far too often. Previous: Update! That's all I want: Fix bugs and add the occasional feature. Old review: 6 months today without an update after promising not to leave us without one. :( loses the playlist from time to time. and not as feature complete as the iOS and Android versions which I also own. Knocking down one star for the bugs and lack of updates. Still, hard to beat since I have all the platforms and keeps my podcasts and played/unplayed flags in sync across all of them. Old Old review: Woot! I've tried every podcast app on Windows phone and within 15 minutes of using Pocket Casts I'm sure it's the best of the pack: Easily find and add podcasts, sync subscriptions across devices and platforms, variable speed playback, easy to use playback and playlist. The only things missing are a sleep timer and bookmarks. I'd love to see both implemented so I can stop looking for that perfect podcast app.

Great app with bugs

Great app but there is a bug that causes the app to completely crash and no longer launch. Requires me to uninstall and then reinstall to fix. I would not mind if I did not have to re-setup each time.

Love the adjustable playback speed!

You can playback at a faster speed to get thru more information quickly. I wish this was in the individual podcast settings screen. It's kinda hard to find.

Great UI - needs Win10 update

This is hands down my favorite podcast app. Excellent UI, with really well-scaled shuttle controls. Needs: - Win10 integration. The Win10 controls and app controls become decoupled after a few launches, meaning you cant control playback through the app. - Auto-delete of a certain number of episodes (for instance, "Only download last 5 episodes") Great app, please bring to all Win10 platforms (XB1, Win10 desktop and update to Win10 Mobile).

Great Windows Phone UI. The UI is one of the reasons we use Windows Phone! The best feature of this app is the syncing across all my Microsoft devices. The list of my subscribed podcasts, which episodes I've listened to, and sometimes where I'm at in a current episode. There are some niggling bugs that stop the podcast? I keep using it, but it has been a year since the developer has updated this app. The Microsoft Zune desktop software hasn't been updated for many many years, but was written so well, that it doesn't need any updates. This app needs an update to address the niggling bugs.

Usable, but some glitches

I have been a Pocket casts user for several years on android, and really appreciate the app's logical design and flexibility. Almost all of that has been brought into the windows app, both style and function. Please keep tuning the windows version, guys, it's not quite in the same league as the android version. I see occasional crashes to the start screen, some instances of my "up next" list disappearing, and times when an already completed podcast starts playing when I try to resume the one I have just paused. Also, many of us would love to see this go UWP, so we can partake of podcasts while working with a windows desktop or tablet. Thanks!

Won't run on my Lumia 950 (fixed)

Worked fine on my 920 even after installing the Windows 10 release preview. No dice on my new 950. Update: Uninstall and reinstall fixed it. Now launches. Before, it was pretty good. Offered more of a selection than the built in podcast app. I liked the variable speed settings. I didn't like that it didn't automatically download the three most recent podcasts in each subscription. I always ended up steaming on my commute using my data plan. I also did not care for the interface much. A bit confusing. I suppose it is good for discovering new podcasts but I already knew the ones I wanted.

Great per-podcast playback options, easy search, and decent episode management (if only you could select more than one episode at a time to mark updated, or download, etc). Playback indicator does occasionally get stuck, but overall app stability has been fine. Very useful.

Needs to catch up

Great for sync, has brought over a lot of good stuff from ios and android. Wish list: - very low volume on most podcasts - background downloading non-reliant/non-existent - mark as played easily Still great enough to use daily :)
