MS, you need people with common sense...

Honestly, I can really appreciate what you are going for with this new design aesthetic, but compared to the earlier version this one is completely BAREBONES. Settings you would expect to find aren't even there anymore. Like, where in the world are the advanced settings!? Another thing too its that screen sharing is a great feature, but that outline around the sharers screen is annoying, and would love for there to be an option to make it transparent so you don't have to see it when watching something. Also, there isn't even any options to run the app in the background anymore. Seriously? What are you guys thinking when designing these new features? Are you rushing development so much to the point that you are forgetting to add basic features, or better yet forgetting to maintain obligatory features that already existed!? Get it together MS you can do better. Ease of use is awesome, but when you do so much to the point where the user begets control you contradict the end goal.

There are a few things, but I know they can't be helped

When using the video chat, the quality isn't that great. But that could be due to my laptop's camera, or the fact that the person I'm Skyping lives in Britain. Sometimes the sound gets really quiet, but that's probably due to some kind of signal interruption since Skype is having to transmit over an ocean. I can't blame the app for that. All in all, the app is wonderful for what it CAN do. Thank you to those that developed it and keep working to keep it up.

The Skype of the Future

Normally I don't write reviews but I had to do this. So yesterday I got the new Skype app update on my phone and today the new desktop version and I gotta say Skype stepped up their game. On the new phone app they added a live stream highlight function and many colors and themes and the organization of contacts and chats got significantly better. It adds more for you to look at, if you are A.D.D it might prove to be a problem but so much better in my opinion. The desktop version I am raving over. They changed the theme to a darker setting which is easier on a lot of eye strain and the organization is better. It functions about the same for me, except the quality of video is much clearer. I do think it runs a higher Kb though which for computers that are older this maybe problematic but I am sure in the next update skype will probably work on that as well. Sound quality in the new version is easier to control and better as well. Overall, Skype you really out did yourselves this time.

Wow, Really Bad Now

Desktop version was rock solid. This version, which I've now tried several times going back to the preview, is just badly done. Buggy, doesn't stay active in the background, doesn't stay active in task bar when closed (duh). Microsoft: let me be plain, you're screwing this up and you're making your own app store and universal app strategy look bad. You need to fix this now.

This apps performance is the cherry on top

Messages that took me an hour to write just disappear after pressing send. I can't receive emails for some reason with outlook premium, something I pay for, so I used this. No draft, no sent fail...just gone as if I didn't write it after pressing send. I paid for the phone. I paid for services. I didn't pay for frustration due to failure of basic actions that this is marketed and sold as being capable of completing. Honestly, I feel as if I'm owed.

This has become my main skype on both my phone and PC. I love that on the PC I can now share my screen and sounds. It had come in quite handy more than a few times since that feature launched. What would give it a full 5 stars is support for more commands in group chats.

Since the creator's update the call quality on the "built in skype" has been unreliable at best. Also had issues with the app stopping in the background, switching between apps will crash Skype on a regular basis. Before July 1 I hope all these issue will be resolved.
