Heavy metal awesomeness with some sh***y gimmicks

The theme is fun, and i love the music. Gameplay is challenging, but suffers from some cheap tactics and enemies to create difficulty. Fire gargoyles are lame. Still worth the price.

A Metal Masterpiece!

Slain is by far the best ID@XBOX game I've played thus far. Super tight controls, absolutely stunning visuals, challenging yet fair combat and some epic enemies all add up to equal an instant classic in my book. Almost 200 deaths in and I can't help but come back for more!

Old School Metal Slasher

An old school platformer with a gothic twist. As one who has never really touched the old school platforming titles but was always interested, this game was the perfect opportunity to give it a shot. The soundtrack is heavy metal with death metal influence in some tracks, an overall very pleasing music composition for the games metal album art style. The gameplay is simple, so simple that you need to dedicate your time to learning how it works before rushing in. The game is not easy. After completing my first play through, I racked up 387 deaths. This game is the epitome of trial and error. That being said, the game has a well written, gloomy, metal inspired story to accompany its gothic backgrounds. Frame rate is smooth, making the endless combat easy to execute. The combat is deceptively simple, leaving the player with several ways to fight. Only complaint is the old school "touch an enemy take damage" system that feels painful for this melee focussed title. Overall loved it 4.75/5
