Tether-X helps you turn your phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot. By configuring a few settings in your computer, you can take advantage of the big screen to do anything you want on the web using your phone's data plan. Watch the video how to setup tethering for quick setup: http://bit.ly/tetheringvideo Note: We don't store or share your location information. Location tracking is required to be able to run the app on the background. Although this is a free app, Tether-X will be limited to 1 time use per day after 10 days of use. You can unlock this by in-app purchasing and start using it unlimited times per day and it will be ad free too! Steps: 1) Launch an elevated command prompt, cmd (the one with administrator privileges) 2) Now, set up the hosted wireless network using this command. Replace the parts in markup tags with your own choices. netsh wlan set hosted mode=allow ssid=<enter_network_name_here> key=<enter_password_here> 3) Now, you need to start the network. Use the command below. netsh wlan start hosted Instead of dealing with commands you can use these scripts: http://bit.ly/tetherxscripts 3) Alternatively some people reported that it is easy to setup hosted wireless network with "Virtual Router Manager" program. 4) Connect the wireless network that you have created and make sure "Keep Wifi on when the screen times out" is checked under Setting -> Wifi -> Advanced 5) Open the Tether-X app and tap the 'Start Proxy Engine' 6) Set your proxy in Internet Explorer or your favorite browser. For IE: Tools -> Internet Options and click on the Connections tab. Click on the "LAN settings". Make sure "Use a proxy server for your LAN" is CHECKED and type in the Address as shown in Tether-X's home page, followed by the Port number. More detailed info: http://bit.ly/setupproxy 7) Restart your browser if necessary and enjoy your internet! One day a few months ago the program suddenly required a reinstall. Now seems to lock up a lot and require frequent restart on phone. (was about the same time as WP8.1 update, so not sure what is responsible.) otherwise.....6.5 Mbps down/ 1.0Mbps up - seems acceptably fast to me. Limit is probably my carrier. Had some trouble initially with loosing connection when phone went to lock screen, even though "Keep WiFi on" option was checked. I re-ran the setup process and rechecked the option, then everything started to work ok. Hogs quite a bit of battery on my Nokia 920, sometimes the app locks up or shuts down without warning. Overall works ok but could be less 'glitchy'! For best results, I recommend setting up proxifier so the entire computer has internet access. Then I use batch files run from desktop icons to start/stop email clients and proxifier. Also seems to help stability to go into the newly created virtual connection and disable everything but tcp/ip and qos packet scheduler.More

No faff, and a super helpful simple tutorial to help you set it up. Highly recommendedMore
This is the most useful app hands down. If you're using Windows 10 on your laptop or desktop, just click on Cortana and type in proxy and click proxy settings. Then it will work.More
No Internet Access?
Followed steps. Network created successfully on Lumia 640 running W10, but phone gives warning of "no internet access." Tether-X will not run: "Please make sure wireless is connected."More
Love this app. I need it almost every day. It would be nice if it would remember my settings and auto configure the device I last used but that's easily done..More
