I don't want catered news

if it's free, why ask to sign up? I had the magazine subscription and loved it. the app wants you to sign in so they can show more of the types of stories you like. I really don't want something thinking for me. I don't remember seeing this notice from when i had this app before. anyhow, this time I didn't bother signing up and immediately uninstalled.

Inconsistent and Slow

I love the Economist on my iPhone and in a browser. This Windows app is inconsistent in performance on a new Surface Pro with Windows 10, sometimes it works, mostly it doesn't. Huge disappointment from the great team at The Economist. I give up and am uninstalling and will just use other platforms to read it.

Horrible due to not allowing offline reading

This app simply won't let you read the magazine when it is offline - even if you have downloaded an issue in it's entirety earlier. I used to read the Economist on an old iPad, and once it was downloaded could read it anywhere. Given I do all my reading of this magazine on my laptop while commuting I' considering cancelling my subscription.

Content is fantastic, app is crap

The app has stopped working completely. I cannot get away from the article that has been on the screen for a week. Background functions are non existent, bugs are innumerable. Windows is not even close to being up to date with this otherwise fantastic paper.

Great stories, terrible app

Love the great issues and insights! Also love the new universal app - I had been waiting to get the Economist on my Windows 10 Mobile! However, the app is extremely slow and crashes frequently, randomly signing me out. It takes about 10 seconds for every action to be executed, inexcusable on a high end device like my Lumia 950; even the animations are not smooth. This is definitely the slowest (actually, the only slow) app on my phone. Just improve the performance to something bearable, and the app will get 5 stars.

Offline function not working STILL

I wrote my first review/complaint on 3-31. Nothing has been fixed Economist issues says they are available offline. However, when I try to open the app offline, it wont open. Says it is taking too long and to look for update or reset. Basically it wont open unless it is online, Very disappointing on a 3 hour airplane ride

Love this! Including audio of each article, YES!

A really great app. I have renewed my subscription today. Love listening on my drives.

Inconsistent

Like many others, I like the content and layout, but find it very inconsistent. Even online, I can download one issue one week, but the next week nothing is readable (online or offline) and I can't download the newest issue. I have found that I have to uninstall the app to reset it and then I can get a new issue. Of course I lose all the others, but wasn't able to open them any longer anyway. It's shame as the app format is a much more pleasant interface for reading than opening a web browser.

barely usable on windows 10 desktop

First, it frequently has formatting issues. Sometimes half of the screen is blank. Second, the user interface needs some polish. A huge chunk of the screen is occupied by multiple useless navigation bars. Third, it needs to support trackpad scrolling.

Offline issues ruin this app.

I really like this app and enjoy being able to read The Economist on my Surface Pro. The one big problem is that, even when I have downloaded an issue prior to being without a Wi-Fi connection, I am not able to access the content in the app. I get error messages instead. And now I'm also having issues with downloading issues in the first place.
