You are the protagonist of an unfinished 1st person fantasy game, trapped in development hell. The designers (played by James Urbaniak, Ashly Burch, and Karen Dyer) are god-like, but so indecisive that they've given you no powers whatsoever. With the help of a mysterious disembodied voice (Stephen Russell) you must seize the tools of game development from these unworthy 'gods', uncovering more of the darkly comic story as you go. Rather than traditional puzzles with a single solution, the incomplete state of each environment is a question that you answer in your own way. Trap the designers' creations, steal their behaviors, and re-mix them to explore and master this world-in-progress. Can you out-think the game gods? Can you ship The Magic Circle from inside it?

Clunky and unprofessional, but not in a good way

Pro tip, making a game about making a bad game only works if you make a good game. Otherwise its just irony. Great voice acting though.

You are the game user, and then some...

Its a great storyline with excellent voiceovers and easy to follow tutorial. What I appreciated most was the ability to program and control my fellow in game characters/monsters with ease , albeit it was difficult in choosing which characters to strip of their command lines to supply to my other monstrosities in the making. All in all, it was worth the 15-20 dollars I had to spend.

Enjoyable, but somewhat shorter than I'd hoped.

The game's art, story, and voice acting are all great. You feel like a genius when you create the perfect minion to have at your side(in my case a hive-mind of multiplying space parasite), but the game doesn't actually have a lot of enemy encounters. This isn't to say there's no variety of creatures, but there are very few times you actually need them to fight more than the single odd enemy. Most of your time will be spent exploring the world, and if you enjoy exploring that isn't a bad thing. The audio logs spread accross the game are interesting and truly worth picking up, it's one of those odd occasions where you actually want the collectables for more than just an achievement. The game's primary problem is length, at the end I didn't want the game to end. I felt like I didn't solve enough puzzles nor triumph over enough enemies. The ending feels too soon, but maybe that isn't the worst thing as the game doesn't over stay it's welcome for a moment. In the end it's a 6/10.

An intriguing meta puzzle

Very interesting. Mixes mild puzzles with an intriguing and very meta story about game development. Plenty to explore but can be knocked out in a couple of hours.

Great Concept!

interesting and unique gameplay, thought provoking story, fun if cheesey dialogue, overall a fun experience despite slow and repetitive menus.
