Description

Winmail.dat Opener is a free app to open those 'winmail.dat' attachments. This app is free of charge, it’s fully functional, giving you access to the files without any need for further in-app purchases. The optional in-app-purchase will remove ads. You can open a file by using the context menu in the windows file explorer or you can use the built in file picker to select a file. After extracting the content you can open it with an external viewer, copy they contained attachments to a location of your choice or share the attachments via email. The free version is ad supported. With an in app purchase you can upgrade to a ad free Pro version. The Pro version can also extract the original Email message body. This can be helpful if you have to deal with completely wrangled Emails. Kindly note that not every file ending with ".dat" is a winmail.dat (TNEF) file. So, before submitting a one star review stating that our service didn’t work, please ensure that your file is indeed a winmail.dat file and not one of a hundred different file types with a .dat extension.  Privacy Informations: We do not collect or resale any of your data. The files you open with Winmail.dat Opener are processed on your device. They are not send over the internet. The files are stored in a temporary folder and will be deleted automatically by the operating system. The app requires the network permission to load ads for the non Pro version. The network permission is not used for any other functionality.

Waste of time

This did not open the winmail.dat attachment I had received in an email. It only saved to the computer and then still would not open it. Best just to have whomever send you the file, to ask for a different type of attachment.

Garbage

The app description is misleading. You cannot do anything with the files you open unless you pay for the app.

You have to pay to actually open a document

The developer goes on at the top of the app store about not giving one star because the winmail.dat isn't compatible. But if you have a compatible winmail.dat you have to upgrade to actually use the program to open the file. The free version only allows you to view the content of the winmail.dat file. Very misleading.

Extracted an attached image from a win.dat file

App did what it needed to do. Installed the app, opened the saved win.dat file and I was able to export the original image file. It was not able to extract the email message, but I had that much in the original email. Solved the problem quick and easy.

Did exactly what I needed it to do!

I needed an app to open these files and this did exactly that. Opened them. Was a hassle asking the sender to reformat everything but now that I have this app I can spare both of us the extra work and time by just being able to open the file the first time around! Happy happy!

opened an excel file

Was able to download app, and open the file, then save it in excel. While there was some issue with continuity, file worked just fine
