Works great on Windows 10 on Surface Pro
Although this app is advertised as incompatible with Windows 10, the app works perfectly on my Microsoft Surface Pro 2 with Windows 10. I originally purchased the app when I had Windows 8.1 (worked great). After the upgrade to Windows 10, the app still worked perfectly. It is very useful and excellent world atlas appMore
Only recommended for Windows 8.0
Beautiful maps and interesting information. The problem with this app is its instability. It was made for Windows 8.0 in mind and received no substantial updates since then. It works on 8.1 but expect some glitches. I'll change the rating to 4-5 stars if it's properly updated but for now it does not work on Windows 10. I hope it is fixed to accommodate those who purchased it and still want to use it.More
Nice maps but can be frustrating.
Includes some cool features like the ability to see the local time and weather for any city in the world but the touchscreen controls are poorly implemented, e.g. tap the map and it may display the country info or it may zoom in or it may move the map. Have found one inaccuracy so far where Mt. Shasta in far northern CA is listed as 4137m at one zoom but 4317 at another (according to the US Geodetic Survey, the true elevation is 4322m). Also, it seems odd that some measurements are in feet while others are in meters. Most frustrating, however, is that it frequently crashes especially when zooming in and out of Bing maps. Good facts, bad "nearby cities"
National-level facts and such are very good and complete. The navigation is a piece of cake. Below a certain zoom level it goes to Bing maps which in my experience is a much smoother experience than Google maps. The one thing that REALLY bugs me about this is when you select a city (say...Rochester, NY), and choose the "city" tab on the right side, one prominently displayed item is "Nearby Cities". At least for US cities, this is horrible. It lists Terre Haute (Indiana) as 76 miles away... it's actually several hundred. Calais (France?) listed as something like 15 miles away... I tested this on a couple of locations in Canada and it seemed to work much better there...for some reason the US data is awful in this regard.More
Beautiful interactive globe. Lots of fun and very informativeMore
Speedy and Informative
The app is quick, beautiful, and very informative on my Surface Pro. Zoom in far enough, and it switches to Bing maps, but the local content is plenty for most purposes.More
Bar problem is fixed
Great app. Super value for a couple of bucks. I have no bar staying on my screen. The 3D globe is great, nice high level facts by country or city. Good simple high level view of the world. Love it.More
Map is busy
The map is a bit busy. There is a lot of information on the screen and can get overwhelming, especially if you a going to use the map with kids. An option to turn on/off objects would be nice. The map lags a bit when zooming, even after you download the offline map. Overall it's okay, but could be better. (using Samsung slate 7)More
Excellent Map app
Although you could get these maps online for free, this app loads them quicker, and has a very nice feature that lets you download maps for offline use.More
Great for children and adults
Bought this for my daughter to teach her the earth is round (her being used to seeing maps). It's very well done - very metro - and full of information. Expand to flatten and touch any country or city for various stats and weather. The animation is also very fluid on my Surface RT. One request, though: when viewing city stats and I select another city, please don't change the selected tab back to the country stats.More
