Version notes

Version number: 3.0.15.0

Accounted for Chile's May 2016 daylight saving time policy change. Improved the call planner to start with the current hour. Now you can pin live clock tiles for up to ten cities on your start menu or start screen. Rewritten and optimized for Windows 10. Runs on Windows 10 desktop computers and tablets. This universal Windows app is also designed to work on high-end Window 10 phones. On early tests with a prerelease version of Windows 10 for mobile phones, World Time Clock was not always given enough background processing time to keep the start tiles live; so, you need to limit the number of, and your dependence on, live start screen tiles on phones. On slow devices phones and tablets), do not add more than ten cities to your favorites and avoid pinning more than a couple cities to your start screen; otherwise, the app performance will be sluggish. More investigation and improvements in this area will be made after Microsoft officially releases Windows 10 for more phones.

Features

  • Examine details and discover when a place switches to, or from, daylight savings time (a.k.a. summer time).
  • Winner of the "Total Innovation" award in the App Innovation contest sponsored by Intel and CodeProject.
  • View the date and day of the week, as well as the time of day, so calls across the International Date Line don't get mixed up.
  • Add up to fifty cities to your favorites by clicking on a map or typing in part of a city or country name.
  • Uncertain about how to spell “Arkhangel’sk”? Don’t worry, with our smart “fuzzy” lookup system you can find bizarrely named cities in a flash.
  • With a glance, the color coding shows you if it’s daytime, nighttime, or near sunrise or sunset.
  • Display time using a 24-hour clock or using AM/PM.
  • You can choose to see just basic date and time information; or, include more details such as country names, international dialing codes, time zones, and sunrise & sunset times.
  • There are huge variations in daylight savings time (a.k.a. summer time) policies in across the world; this app can help avoid problems such as missed calls.
  • An internet connection is not required for most operations.
  • If you have an internet connection, World Time Clock synchronizes your list of selected cities across multiple devices using very little bandwidth.
  • Quickly sort or rearrange your city information as desired.
  • Don’t get stuck with just a list view or just a time zone map. We give you the flexibility to see your information on a map, in your list of favorites, or in the call planning chart.
  • Refined to take advantage of Windows 10. All features work when then application window is full screen or reduced to a small window.

World time clock for Window 10 is evolving nicely

Hi, I am the app developer. World Time Clock is tested for use on fast tablets and desktop PCs running Windows 10. It may also run on Windows 10 for mobile phones, but with some limitations on number the number of places you can track. On early tests with a prerelease version of Windows 10 for mobile phones World Time Clock was not always given enough background processing time to keep the start tiles live; so, you need to limit the number of, and your dependence on, live start screen tiles on phones. More investigation and improvements in this area will be made after Microsoft officially releases Windows 10 for more small devices.

Must have for Business & International Travel

The addition of a calendar feature to the regular time conversion you see in other apps makes this a top notch tool. Great work.

Was Great Until You Updated It!

Guys - what have you done?!?!?! Your app was the best world time clock anywhere and I've been a happy user for years. Your latest version has gone backwards!! Please return the view that is the combination of your new 'My Cities' tab and the 'call planner' tab. In the call planner tab I should be able to add/remove/re-arrange cities

Call Planner is Cool; Rest of App is Not

The call planner app is really cool and is the main reason I got this app. However, I use a different app as my desktop "world clock" because this app is just not a very good world clock. In the primary viewing mode, the font is so small that you can't read the time clearly. There is plenty of space on the tiles, they just use a small font for some strange reason. Also, I don't find the "international dialing codes" that useful and you should be able to turn that off and use that extra space to display everything else in a larger font. I thought the map view would be cool based on the screenshots, but unfortunately it's poorly implemented. For each city there is a tiny little text box with extremely tiny font so you can't read the city name or the time of day. Again, they waste screen space with international dialing codes. These text boxes should display ONLY the city name and time of day, in LARGE font. Also, for cities near the edge of the map the text box overflows the map.

Great functional app.

Perfect on my Surface RT, particularly in landscape mode. I do a lot of calls around the world in the course of my day job and this is a perfect little call planner for level setting my brain on rational overlapping work times. Update: After the latest update (live tile update), I like this app even better (I already gave it 5 stars before). I've now moved it to be my first top left corner app (the pole position app!) as I can see my top time zones in a glance.

Nicely executed and very useful. Worth the money.

This is a very useful, very well thought out application. Works well and adds a lot of features into a clean UI. For 5+ stars: 1) Live tiles for selected cities would be cool 2) Ability to edit or add a city. For example the app would not accept roughly 1/3rd of the cities I wanted to add. But I know all the facts needed about those cities, longitude and latitude, timezone, dialing code, etc etc.

Great App

Same feedback as others - would be great to be able to set a live tile. Do a lot of work in other countries and this is a great way to quickly get what time it is in that market.

Needs a Live Tile

I really like the design of this app. Specifically, I like the timelines that compare other locations to my current location and highlight their prime calling times; the app works great for that. The one feature it desperately needs is a live tile that rotates through my current time and, optionally, the time of cities I select from the main screen's cities. I would pay up to $2 for an app that does that nicely.
