Microsoft Translator adds 6 new languages to the list of text to speech languages, bringing the total number of supported languages to 36. Text to speech audio output allows\u00a0you to\u00a0play\u00a0translated text in its native accent.<\/p>\n

As mentioned in the Cognitive Services blog, the languages were added to the Bing Speech API<\/a> in early February, and are now available in the Translator Text<\/a> and Speech<\/a> APIs, as well as end-user products.<\/p>\n

You can use text to speech to quickly communicate with others, or to learn how to pronounce foreign words and phrases.<\/p>\n

Say, for instance, you are visiting a museum in Vietnam\u2014you\u2019ve found the building but can\u2019t find the entrance. You can just type, \u201cWhere is the entrance to the museum?\u201d into your Microsoft Translator app to translate to Vietnamese, push the speaker button for text to speech, and you can play the audio to ask for assistance.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, you could listen and repeat the text to speech in your hotel room to practice common words and phrases.<\/p>\n

You can also use the Microsoft Translator\u00a0API to add text to speech into your own apps, products, and workflows. For instance, you could add text to speech into your\u00a0customer support<\/a>\u00a0channels to provide real-time multilingual assistance.<\/p>\n

The following languages are now available for text to speech, with new languages in\u00a0bold<\/b>:<\/p>\n

Text to speech in\u00a0all of\u00a0the new languages is available now in the\u00a0Translator\u00a0app for\u00a0Android,<\/a>\u00a0Translator for Bing<\/a>, and the Microsoft Translator\u00a0Text<\/a> and Speech<\/a> APIs.\u00a0The text to speech feature is\u00a0available\u00a0in Translator for iOS<\/a>\u00a0and the Microsoft Translator\u00a0live<\/a>\u00a0feature,\u00a0with support for\u00a0these\u00a0new languages coming soon.<\/p>\n
