Visterra uses KAISPE Purchase Requisition and the Microsoft Power Platform to automate procurement and boost productivity by 40 percent

Visterra Inc., a clinical stage biotechnology company, wanted to replace cumbersome manual processes with automation for day-to-day procurement and service requisitions. Stephen Torra, Director Enterprise Systems, Visterra, engaged KAISPE LLC, a Microsoft partner that provides efficient solutions and services to enterprise customers. In the initial discovery phase, Torra realized KAISPE possessed the experience and technology to rapidly solve his problems. With minor customizations, KAISPE deployed its Purchase Requisition solution, built on the Microsoft Power Platform, in just three days, resulting in a 40-percent increase in employee productivity.

An innovative biotechnology company struggling with manual purchase processes

Founded in 2007, Visterra Inc. is committed to developing innovative antibody-based therapies for the treatment of kidney diseases and other hard-to-treat illnesses. The company’s proprietary technology platform enables the design and engineering of precision antibody-based products to target diseases, leading to novel therapies for patients with unmet needs.

Visterra struggled with manual processes for purchasing and service requests. The company needed a digital solution that provided an app for day-to-day use in procurement operations, automating the processes for requesting material and services. A cumbersome existing solution made it difficult to create a requisition and get it reviewed by authorized users. The old process was error-prone and lacked flexibility, forcing reviewers to spend too much time managing requisition details.

Torra contacted KAISPE, a Microsoft partner that provides unique solutions to industrial customers such as Visterra.

Founded in 2019, KAISPE focuses on helping customers with their digital transformation journey by using Microsoft technology, including Microsoft Azure and the Microsoft Power Platform. After initial discovery sessions, Torra was impressed by KAISPE’s expertise and the capabilities of the Microsoft Power Platform.

From manual approval to flexible workflows using a familiar interface

KAISPE implemented its Purchase Requisition app, which has a built-in workflow engine based on Microsoft Power Automate. The app integrates with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Power Apps, leveraging existing technology and providing users with a familiar, intuitive interface.

Thanks to the automation and capabilities provided by Purchase Requisition, Visterra realized a 40-percent increase in productivity, and the entire implementation took only three days, including customizations.

Visterra employees have the flexibility to manage approvals and get notifications via email or Teams, eliminating the need to open a separate app. The seamless experience optimizes how users work and collaborate by leveraging their experience with Microsoft 365 Office apps.

Increased mobility combined with a centralized view

With the new solution, Visterra staff access their requisitions from tablet devices, empowering them to review, manage, and finalize requisitions from anywhere at any time. Additionally, the solution provides a single, consolidated view of purchasing requirements for supervisors, department heads, and executives, enabling better business decisions.

Looking forward, Visterra is exploring a technology adoption roadmap that engages KAISPE to develop additional solutions and drive success with the Microsoft Power Platform.
