Bern KAIO enters digital meeting spaces with the expert help of SPIE ICS

Kantonales Amt für Informatik und Organisation (KAIO, or Canton Office for IT and Organization) is the central official entity supplying innovative IT solutions to the entire Canton of Bern government. KAIO needed an effective hybrid meetings solution to respond to COVID-19 workplace challenges. In an innovation workshop, SPIE ICS presented solution scenarios, demonstrating a candidate based on Microsoft Teams Rooms. KAIO chose to run a proof of value (PoV) based on Skype for Business on premises and, after successful completion of the PoV, the solution is now used operationally.

Customer Challenges

KAIO has implemented work-from-home and work-remotely policies for their workforce in response to COVID-19 workplace challenges. To address its remote and hybrid meeting video, audio, and user-experience challenges, KAIO needed a solution to improve productivity, effectiveness, and satisfaction to accommodate COVID-19 work restrictions, as well as address post-pandemic hybrid-work scenarios.

Partner Solution

SPIE ICS AG developed a hybrid meeting solution based on Microsoft Teams Rooms and Logitech video and audio equipment, and implemented it as a successful proof of concept on the customer's website. One of the customer's key requirements was to continue running their hybrid meetings with Skype for Business with an improved video and audio experience. The customer also wanted a positive user experience that featured an intuitive user interface and well-integrated equipment setup.

Customer Benefits

After the successful completion of a three-month proof of value, KAIO determined that all requirements were met or overachieved. The simplicity of the solution’s usage is documented in a YouTube training video to help the KAIO workforce easily adopt the solution
