Enabling Remote Learning During the Pandemic

Established in 2009, IGA is a Tunisia-based software company that specializes in insurance solutions. Its existing IT infrastructure was not giving the results and performance it was looking for, impacting its customers’ business. The company upgraded and modernized its solutions by moving its applications to the Azure cloud. With the switch to Microsoft, IGA ensured the scalability of applications, making it affordable for all. It also minimized downtime for its customers.

IGA's vision is to democratize insurance information systems, making them affordable by offering Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for insurance companies. Currently, the information systems it had been developing were expensive and were only purchased by big insurance companies.
To develop and run software applications, IGA had been using one of Europe’s largest cloud service providers. However, the solution was proving to be very expensive. IGA also faced other issues like poor network performance, increased downtime, high operational costs, and slow deployment, which led to customer dissatisfaction.
“It was very stressful for us each time our systems failed and customers faced downtime,” confesses Meher Jedidi, Operations Manager, IGA. “We want our customer to be happy with our service and improve their productivity, profitability, and responsiveness.” The company decided it was time to migrate to another cloud.
Microsoft Gold Partner INSOMEA studied IGA’s infrastructure and recommended a shift to Azure to reduce operational expenses and improve uptime. While planning the move, a fire hit IGA’s existing cloud provider, destroying one data center and damaging another. This created a sudden rush to start the migration process. Understanding that it was crucial for IGA to be operational as soon as possible, INSOMEA successfully migrated 60 virtual machines to Azure in a record time of 48 hours. The move to Azure enabled IGA to have full business continuity and disaster recovery, ensuring that its data and services are always available with Azure site recovery.

Achieving desired outcomes with Azure

Once this mammoth migration task was completed, INSOMEA started working on optimizing the consumption of cloud services. “We have optimized our bill and seen a whopping 50 percent reduction as compared to our first bill,” reveals Meher. IGA has also improved its application performance while minimizing downtime. “Our customers were quick to notice the difference in performance and speed, and asked us what we did. We tell them it's the migration to Azure,” said Meher. “Our customers are more satisfied now with our services and performance, which has become 10 times faster.”
Today, IGA can ensure greater security coverage by using cloud intelligence, which has improved its anomaly detection and reaction time. “Our customers now have more confidence regarding data security and protection, knowing that we have moved to Microsoft Azure,” Meher adds.

Faster and easier deployments

With the move, IGA is now using Scrum on Azure DevOps tools. This made roll-out easier and faster through pipelines and quick releases that deploy automatically to the cloud. “We use Scrum on Azure DevOps, sprint every 10 days, and deliver automatically on demo environment,” said Meher. “Any change requests from customers are now automated through Azure DevOps tools and implemented within a few hours. It is saving our senior developers much time.”
“Having the scalability of Azure virtual machines allows us to cater to both local and international insurance companies at the same time, without double efforts,” explains Meher. “We can have one environment for multiple customers. This helps us provide solutions to insurance companies at a much lower rate. Our solutions used to be too expensive for smaller insurance companies. But now we can scale our solutions at low cost and offer them to customers with smaller budgets.”
“With Azure, our vision to democratize insurance information systems and make it affordable is coming true. We intend to certify and commercialize the solutions through Microsoft marketplace and make it available for insurance companies, big and small,” reveals Meher.

Classera was able to offer quality services to its users capitalizing on Azure capabilities and was able to scale in no time serving hundred of thousands across the region

“Our customers were quick to notice the difference in app performance and asked us, what is the big change that we made, and we tell them it's the migration to Azure.”
