EVA Group transforms its processes with the transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Working from a 40,000 square meter facility in Lekunberri, Spanish beverage manufacturer EVA Group’s staff of more than 65 rely on expertise gained during the company’s 100-year history. Its management board is committed to constant technological innovation applied to production and distribution processes for its ciders, carbonated juices, liqueurs, vinegars, and other apple- and grape-based beverages. Today, its sales portfolio boasts more than 150 high quality products, and customers in countries across five continents request tailor-made products as well.

Simplifying a complex industry

EVA Group has long used Microsoft solutions to help them with the challenging tasks surrounding beverage manufacturing processes; food tracking and security issues; and special legal requirements such as alcohol taxes, origin denomination designations, and quality reporting. For 15 years, EVA Group has relied on Tipsa to help the company navigate the technical side of this complex industry. Tipsa has a deep commitment to this sector, with more than 300 beverage company clients in its roster. 

Their latest joint venture: moving EVA Group’s infrastructure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to manage logistical, production, and sales operations with agility and confidence.

The technology provided by Dynamics 365 Business Central and applications from Tipsa, combined with other Microsoft 365 and Power Platform tools, reduced IT costs and provided a harmonious and rapid transition from Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016. All the company’s operational teams now enjoy a modern, secure, analytical, and collaborative workspace. "The switch to Dynamics 365 Business Central has meant a substantial improvement in our operational efficiency, facilitating integrations with other systems and with our customers and suppliers," said Jorge Arroniz, IT Director, EVA Group. “All this under a much more secure, flexible, accessible, and sustainable environment." 

New solutions and seasoned expertise

The transition from Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 to Dynamics 365 Business Central and its interoperability with other tools in daily use in the organization - such as Dynamics 365 Sales, Power BI, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook - has enabled an integrated and consistent security policy between applications. The fluid and friendly user experience in a hybrid environment (face-to-face and remote) fits with the new work reality.

Tipsa provided much more than a smooth migration. EVA Group uses a suite of certified applications published by Tipsa on Microsoft AppSource, along with custom developments that provide a unique interface, new code, and new native integrations with Microsoft 365 apps, Power Platform tools, and Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement apps. "We have avoided the information silos that traditionally exist between ERP and CRM systems, adding value to each layer of our data analysis processes. The project has interconnected data by automating repetitive ordinary tasks," said Arroniz. "Business operations have been simplified while agility has been incorporated to our decision-making processes."

The operational complexity of the food and beverage sector and high regulation of its daily activities are just some of the challenges that the project faced and successfully overcame. Areas of great improvement include financial administration; supply chain management; production and shipments; traceability and food safety; connectivity with logistics operators of large distribution (EDI); generation and submission of books; statements and taxes to regulatory bodies and administrations (EMCS, SILICIE, SII); and the governance and privacy of data. "Processes that used to take hours or days of manual work are currently done with a few clicks and from anywhere, further increasing service excellence," Arroniz said.

Overall, the new solution built on Dynamics 365 Business Central provides EVA Group with a comprehensive business management solution, with powerful capabilities to face AI-assisted data analytics strategies. It provides seamless, highly segmented, and customized communication with the company’s customers, suppliers, employees, and business partners.
