The Domino's Difference: Uniting more than 100,000 frontline workers with Microsoft Teams and Viva Engage

Collaboration is a team sport at Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Limited (DPE), the largest master franchisee for the United States Domino’s Pizza brand in the world. The company’s culture revolves around the motto “sell more pizza, have more fun,” translating into a dynamic employee experience that encourages hard work, boldness, and ambitious goals while emphasizing connection with colleagues and celebrating victories together.

The company’s unique workplace atmosphere is squarely centered on its employees, empowering them to build their careers and businesses within the company, including Don Meij, Domino’s Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, who began his Domino’s career as a Delivery Expert in 1987.

With more than 3,800 stores in 12 markets, Domino’s needs to ensure each employee, from the frontline workers to the CEO, feels heard and has the opportunity and the means to communicate with everyone else. To bolster engagement and bring everyone to the table, Domino’s looked to Microsoft Viva Engage in Microsoft Teams, a comprehensive communication platform, so frontline workers could connect with each other, with other stores, and with other markets, fostering a culture of global accountability and entrepreneurship. Previously, each of the 12 markets was on a different platform, using miscellaneous strategies and tools for internal communications. With a single sign-on in Microsoft Teams (a platform employees are familiar with and already using), Viva Engage is a game-changer for the company. 

Using Viva Engage, frontline workers in every market can connect with each other and the support offices, which in turn can reach every individual—to share information and updates, facilitate connections, and offer a platform to find a community—in their own language. “Previously, all the markets were segmented, but now for the very first time, we’re opening that door, with Viva Engage” explains Amanda Mains, Corporate Communications Manager at Domino’s. “While we operate in different time zones with different languages in different countries, we are all united under the same purpose, and Viva Engage provides untapped potential for information sharing, knowledge, and inspiration.”
