TatvaCare, a promising start-up in the Indian health tech landscape, was founded in 2020 with a mission to transform care practices. It aims to promote efficient, patient-centric care and optimize outcomes across the healthcare spectrum. Its product portfolio includes TatvaPractice, an advanced electronic medical record (EMR) and knowledge platform aimed at healthcare practitioners; and MyTatva, a digital therapeutics (DTx) application to help patients manage chronic health conditions. TatvaCare is committed to achieving a long-term health continuum by improving the quality of care at one end and enhancing the quality of life on the other.
Need for hyper-personalized care solutions
TatvaCare aims to deliver positive health outcomes by combining cutting-edge technology with personalized care to empower health professionals and individuals with chronic conditions. Its product, MyTatva, provides support for people dealing with chronic conditions such as fatty liver, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, etc. On the care side, the application TatvaPractice automates a doctor's practice, focusing on OPD procedures and providing support in 16 regional languages. These interconnected solutions allow doctors to prescribe medicines and laboratory tests that can be further used in the workflow and accessed by patients.
Javed Khan, Chief Technology Officer, says, “While we had designed an end-to-end journey for the patient, we identified a gap between the level of detailing a patient needs vis-a-vis the information available to them. There was also a lag in the response time to patients’ queries. Additionally, we wanted to reduce the cognitive overload on doctors by automating a doctor’s tasks and the interactions between doctor and patient while retaining the human touch.”
In response to these challenges, TatvaCare sought to develop a solution that could effectively bridge these gaps and enhance the overall user experience.
More personalized and targeted care plans
TatvaCare decided to deploy an intelligent AI assistant to bridge the gaps. Since the company’s existing IT infrastructure is based on Microsoft Office and Microsoft Azure, it preferred a Microsoft solution. With enterprise security and data privacy high on TatvaCare’s priority list, Azure's comprehensive security tools instilled confidence in managing data confidentiality, integrity, and availability, while ensuring transparency and accountability. Additionally, with factors such as time-to-market requirements and OpenAI advancements, the team decided to go with Microsoft.
TatvaCare designed and developed a customized bot, AskAI, using Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Services. The time-to-market for this solution was just two weeks. The solution provides numerous benefits. Since the AI assistant is powered by prompt engineering and access to patient context, the responses are hyper-personalized and score high on accuracy. Patient feedback is incorporated as input, further refining AskAI's behavior. This allows TatvaCare to serve more patients with tailored treatment steps based on their responses to the questions asked by the application. Using Azure cloud and Azure AI services, TatvaCare optimizes costs and resources as it can create services under dedicated resource groups. On the health practitioner's side, about 180,000 prescriptions are currently generated on the platform per month. Based on patient knowledge, advice and diagnosis, prescriptions can be generated with a 95% probability, which can be leveraged further to streamline a doctor's tasks.
Bridging the gap in healthcare
TatvaCare remains committed to advancing healthcare accessibility and personalization. With ambitious plans on the horizon, it aims to leverage the innovative capabilities of Microsoft Copilot to develop more use cases. It plans to enhance hyper-personalization in MyTatva by incorporating comprehensive patient data, including specific health conditions, diet and exercise adherence, and medication routines. Other features in the pipeline are multi-lingual support for MyTatva and inclusivity by addressing challenges related to gender, location, and diet.
Manoj Balaji, CEO, TatvaCare, says, “Our goal is to continually bridge the gap in the healthcare ecosystem. TatvaCare's products will enable solutions to drive overall adherence, enhancing user engagement and positively impacting patient outcomes. We're excited to join forces with Microsoft, pioneering transformative advancements in digitizing healthcare practice."
