Confidently moving to the Cloud with Microsoft Unified Support

With the mission to help every person achieve their potential through access to world-class education, training, apprenticeships and care, the Department for Education (DfE) oversees 20,000 schools in England.

“The DfE now has 98% of it’s infrastructure in the Microsoft Azure Cloud” explains Angie Paylor, Infrastructure Operations Lead. “These technologies are new to us, and if we get an incident we need to be able to respond immediately. We’re engaged with Microsoft Unified Support, and knowing we’ve got people at the end of the phone is really, really key.”

In addition we have Designated Support Engineers who are on hand for any IT issues, incident logging, advice and guidance. “We have individuals that come in to help us get value for money in terms of the products and services that we get from Microsoft” continues Paylor. “Having a DSE on board cuts out a lot of time trying to find the right person to ask the right question about something.”

As DfE looks to the future, Microsoft Unified Support will continue to play a big role. “The DSE are a great resource, great value for money” concludes Paylor. “I love them!”

“Last year, our cost savings using Microsoft Unified Support Designated Support Engineers was in the region of £10 million. That’s a huge benefit for the Department of Education, and for the people we serve.”
