FY18 CSP Direct Partner (1TR) and Indirect Reseller (2TR) Incentive Eligibility – competency-based changes
Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) is Microsoft’s strategic cloud transaction model, and we’re enhancing it to make it more attractive for partners as a business model and profitability engine.

Partners now have a clear path to become eligible to earn partner incentives for their CSP business with funds that can be leveraged by CSP Direct Partner and Indirect Reseller partners.

The incentive eligibility requirements for CSP Direct Partners (formerly known as CSP 1-Tier Resellers) and Indirect Resellers (formerly known as CSP 2-Tier Resellers) for Fiscal Year 2018 (FY18) beginning July 1, 2017, are evolving to a set of requirements fully controlled by partners.
What’s changing.
Previously, partners had to maintain Microsoft management status (e.g. inclusion in the Managed Partner List "MPL"). We are removing this incentive eligibility requirement for FY18.

Instead, for FY18, partners who are members of the Microsoft Partner Network (MPN) and attain one of several named MPN competencies (see list below) at the Silver or Gold level will be eligible for partner incentives in the CSP Direct Partner and Indirect Reseller programs.

Deadline: To secure CSP Direct Partner and Indirect Reseller incentive eligibility status for FY18 H1, attainment of one of the required competencies must be completed prior to 12:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (USA), January 1, 2018.

Competency options: The following competencies at the silver or gold level satisfy the requirements for eligibility:
  • Cloud Customer Relationship Management
  • Cloud Platform
  • Cloud Productivity
  • Data Analytics
  • Data Platform
  • Enterprise Mobility Management
  • Small and Midmarket Cloud Solutions
  • Windows and Devices
Important note if you currently hold one of the above competencies: Your competency status must be “active” on January 1, 2018, when the FY18 H1 assessment occurs. If your competency expires during FY18 H1, and is shown as “expired,” you will be considered inactive and, as a result, will forfeit FY18 H1 incentive earnings.
Call to action.
  • Visit the MPN portal to register (if needed) and to learn more about competency attainment.
  • Earn your Silver or Gold-level competency from the approved list of options no later than midnight, Pacific Standard Time, January 1, 2018.
