History builds trust
Founded by Group President David Chong in 1984, the Portcullis Group has offices across the Asia-Pacific, the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Seychelles, and New Zealand. To better protect client data across operations, the firm has invested heavily in cybersecurity, setting up a dedicated company within the Group called Oyster Security in 2014.
Vincent Ang, Director (IT Security) for the group, has led Oyster Security since its inception. In addition to significantly improving overall IT infrastructure, Ang’s priority has been to streamline efficiencies and rationalize IT resources across groups.
“One of my main goals, outside of ensuring the absolute highest data security standards, has been to explore how we can adopt and adapt technology, software, and systems to help the business have a competitive advantage,” explains Ang.
With the adoption of Microsoft 365 and the move to the cloud, Ang and the team at Portcullis believe they have found a solution that perfectly balances features and cost. “The strategy to go to the cloud has really helped us save on costs,” he says. “And with Microsoft as a partner, we also benefit from a better service level agreement with a more secure and robust platform to host our in-house systems.”
