Computer Group Newsletters, the phone companion app for a similarly named app in the Windows Store, takes you back in time, allowing you to read the monthly newsletters of the Tampa PC Users Group from 1988 through January, 2014. The first three years are a bit spotty, but beginning with 1991 the collection is complete. The Home Page consists of a scrollable collection of newsletter front pages, which you may scroll rapidly by using the slider to the right. A tap on a front page will bring up that month’s newsletter in PDF format that where you may increase of decrease the text size and move around the page to easily read the newsletter. These newsletters, published monthly, are a virtual store of personal computing history, information and news. The newsletters from 1988 through November 1995 were scanned from paper documents into Adobe Acrobat. All subsequent newsletters were printed directly to Acrobat from Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher or Adobe InDesign. A little History: The Tampa PC Users Group was founded in 1984 as the IBM PC Users Group because of the burgeoning interest in IBM's personal computer. Later IBM was dropped from the name. The Tampa PC Users Group web site is http://www.tpcug.org. Obviously the app requires a data connection to download the newsletters. Comments and questions should be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
