Krita is an open source painting application designed for illustrators, concept artists, illustrators, comic book creators, matte painters and texture artists, and the VFX industry. Krita is used daily by professional artists all over the world, as well as enthusiastic amateurs. Krita offers many common and innovative features to make painting more fun and more productive. There are great brush engines for sketching and painting, stabilizers for freehand inking, assistants for constructing a complex scene, a distraction-free canvas-only mode for painting without bother, clone layers, filter and transform masks for non-destructive editing. You can exchange files with other applications in many different formats. Krita is being developed by an international community of open source enthusiasts who want to make a great digital painting application available as widely as possible. If you buy Krita in the Windows store, you will support the development of Krita directly: currently, two volunteers from the Krita community are sponsored to work full-time on Krita. You will also have the convenience of easy installation on all your Windows devices and automatic updates when a new version is released. By buying Krita in the Windows Store you support the development of Krita. You will also receive automatic updates whenever a new version of Krita is released. Krita 4.1 is a new feature release! There is a completely new Reference Images tool. That allows you to drag your references on the canvas, and even save them with your Krita project file. Animation support has improved: there are new ways to work with frames, to act on multiple layers in a frame at the same time and the timeline has improved as well. Plus, Krita can now handle longer animations by caching the rendered frames on disk. The color picker now has a blending mode, so you can mix a color from the canvas to get a new color. The vanishing point assistant now can show reference lines -- and you can configure the colors of the assistant lines. Another new feature is sessions and window layouts: sessions saves open images so the next time you start Krita, your workspace can be restored. Window layouts lets you save your favorite multi-window configuration. Then there are performance improvements: the circular gaussian and soft brush tips are up to to ten times faster! There's a new filter: Cross Channel Adjustment that lets you drive color adjustments by the values of another channel, so you can for instance increase the redness of only the lighter pixels.
