About The BookOfficial Microsoft Learning textbook designed for the academic classroom that covers the topics and skills in the CompTIA Security+ exam.

A complete program of textbook, lab manual, and software, this Academic Learning Series textbook and lab manual provides everything students need to build the knowledge and skills necessary to implement and manage network security. Coverage includes authentication, encryption, public key infrastructure, and network infrastructure. In addition, this textbook will help students to prepare for the CompTIA examination: Security+. A complete set of instructor resources supports the book.

From Kurt Hudson:

"After comparing the instructor materials for Course Technology and Microsoft Learning Security+ courses, I decided the Microsoft Learning (ALS/MOAC) was superior in several ways:

1) The Microsoft Learning slides have slide notes that help when preparing to teach the course. That is something that Course Technology slides do not provide.

2) The Microsoft Learning lab notes are amazingly detailed. When I compared the two course books, I noticed that the Microsoft Learning title had far more hands-on activities and labs. Then, I realized I would have to buy an extra book to get labs from Course Technology. After searching quite a bit, I don't see any supplements or lab notes for the Course Technology textbook or lab book.

3) The classroom setup guide for the Microsoft Learning course is very thorough. I appreciate that there are a lot of automated files and clear setup directions. I don't see anything like that in the Course Technology title.

I selected the Microsoft Learning title because I can get ready to teach it faster and my students will appreciate being able to apply the security concepts they learn through the numerous hands-on labs using the Microsoft operating systems that they work with everyday.
