Modern Desktop Assessment

The Modern Desktop Assessment offer can help you create customer intent for Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus deployments. Designed as a three-day customer onsite engagement, the assessment includes: customer value prop, guidance on end of support scenarios for Windows and Office, and evaluation of the customer environments for modern desktop deployment.

The Modern Desktop Assessment runs until 25 June 2019.

Assessment workflow overview

  1. Partner nominates a customer account by filing the form
  2. Microsoft validates the customer eligibility
  3. Microsoft confirms the customer eligibility and provides details on POE via email to the ID provided on the submission form
  4. Partner delivers the assessment
  5. Partner provides POE to Microsoft; see detailed POE guidelines below
  6. Upon approval of POE, Microsoft disburses payment by the next month
Assessment objective

We have created two pathways, or types, for you to deliver the Modern Desktop Assessment depending on the needs of your customers. You can choose either of the two types of Assessments for customer delivery. Both the Assessments include the basic scope of: (1) Presenting the value of Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus, (2) Educating the customer about Windows and Office EOL scenarios, and associated impact.

Below are the different scope items for each.

Type 1 Assessment: Deployment Compatibility Analysis

* Basic scope, as described on the left * Provide a summary of existing versions of Windows OS and Office clients in the customer’s organization * Review compatibility of the customer’s Application and Device portfolio to deploy Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus * Provide summary of issues and blockers based on the compatibility analysis

Type 2 Assessment: Desktop Deployment Wheel Analysis

* Basic scope, as described on the left * Educate the customer about the detailed multi-step Desktop Deployment Wheel process to enable deployment of the Modern Desktop * Conduct a detailed discovery of the customer’s IT readiness for Modern Desktop deployment, using the Microsoft-provided Discovery Questionnaire * Provide summary of issues and blockers based on the discovery

Customer qualification
  • Windows PC Installed Base of greater than 1,000 seats, and less than 25 percent deployed, or Office 365 Pro Plus paid seats greater than 1,000 and less than 25 percent deployed
  • Deployment of Windows 10 and/or Office 365 ProPlus no greater than 25 percent of the customer's PCIB
  • Customer should not be currently using ECIF Modern Desktop Pilot funding
Partner qualification
  • FastTrack Ready or co-sell prioritized
  • Active Gold or Silver competency in the Windows and Device competency and the Cloud Productivity competency

Payment structure
  • Up to 3,000 USD, for customer account less than 5,000 PCIB
  • Up to 4,000 USD, for customer account more than 5,000 PCIB
  • The above pay-out is inclusive of $1,000 allocated to cover T&E cost, which is available only when requested through the ‘Comments’ section in the nomination form.

Payments will be made by the 15th of each month for valid Proof of Execution (POE) documents received by the end of the prior month. Payments will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis until program cap is reached.
