HoloLens as seen from the front

A new way to see your world

Holograms are the next evolution in computing. With this vision in mind, hardware, software, and design came together to create the first fully self-contained holographic computer.

Science fiction becomes science fact

Microsoft HoloLens is made up of specialized components that together enable holographic computing. The optical system that works in lock-step with advanced sensors. The HPU that makes light work of processing a large amount of data per second. All those components and more enable you to move freely and interact with holograms.

Designed for comfort

The headband is designed like a performance car with great weight distribution for a comfortable fit. Weight is distributed around the crown of your head, saving your ears or nose from undue pressure.

Adjustable fit

The adjustment wheel in the headband ensures a comfortable fit for a wide range of adult head sizes.

Details of HoloLens hardware features

“People, not devices, are mobile. We are ready for technology to move beyond devices, beyond screens and pixels, and beyond today's digital borders.”

- Alex Kipman, Technical Fellow, Operating Systems

Power and grace

Containing more computing power than the average laptop, Microsoft HoloLens is passively cooled without fans. With no wires, external cameras, or phone or PC connection required, you can move freely and self-contained.

“The hardware allows us to take these visions—these ideas about new products—and make them real.”

- Todd Holmdahl, Microsoft Corporate Vice President, Next Generation Devices

A precise audio experience without headphones that is immersive, yet won’t block out the real world.

    Spatial sound

Using a scientific model that characterizes how the human ear receives sound from a specific location, Microsoft HoloLens synthesizes sound so that you can hear holograms from anywhere in the room.
