How long are my Surface and accessories covered?
Your Surface standard express warranty has two parts:
- Express hardware warranty: Includes service on hardware and covered accessories for 1 year from the date of purchase. Covered accessories include the Touch Cover, Type Cover, Surface power supply cords and adapters and Surface pens.*
- Technical support: Provides help and technical support on preinstalled software for the first 90 days after purchase.
*Wedge Touch Mouse Surface Edition is covered under a separate, 3-year, express hardware warranty.
How can I tell if my Surface is still under express warranty?
Check your warranty status online. If you have registered your Surface, click the Sign In link at the upper right of this website. Or, see Register your Surface.
What is my express warranty after my Surface is replaced?
We provide a post-service express warranty for devices that have been serviced or replaced by our service centre. The length of the express warranty depends on whether the service was in-warranty or out-of-warranty:
- In-warranty service: If your Surface was serviced or replaced within the original express warranty period, you receive either the balance of your original express warranty or 90 days, whichever is longer.
- Out-of-warranty service: If your Surface was serviced out of the original express warranty period, your replacement or serviced device will have a 90-day express warranty.
Can I get service if I don’t have warranty coverage?
If the problem with your Surface is not covered by your express warranty or your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, your Surface may be eligible for out-of-warranty service for a fee. Please note, out-of-warranty services for your device may no longer be available in your region. To learn more, contact us.
