What are the Microsoft extended hardware service plans?

There are two extended warranty service plans available to business customers: Extended Hardware Service, and Microsoft Complete for business. (Not available in all regions.) The plans extend the Surface standard warranty up to four years and can be purchased up to 45 days from the Surface date of purchase.
Note
The extended hardware service plans do not cover keyboards, accessories, or cosmetic damage to the device.
Extended Hardware Service
The Extended Hardware Service Plan extends the standard warranty for the Surface device up to three years. This plan also provides repair or replacement through Advanced Exchange (not available in all regions.)

Microsoft Complete for business
This service plan includes:
  • Everything that's covered in the Extended Hardware Service plus additional coverage of the device for damage due to drops, liquid, electrical surge, battery failure, or other accidental breakage.
  • No deductible for accidental damage from normal wear and tear. No deductible applies to a maximum of two claims per warranty period, and includes defective battery replacement for the original rechargeable unit supplied by the manufacturer of product with initial purchase. Limited to one battery replacement during the term of this plan.

How do I buy an extended service plan for business?

You can buy Microsoft Complete for business or the Microsoft Extended Hardware Service Plan for business at any authorized reseller. For more info, see Authorized Surface Resellers. The plan can be purchased up to 45 days from the Surface date of purchase.
