Windows Media Player Error Message Help

You've encountered error message C00D11D0 while using Windows Media Player. The following information might help you troubleshoot the issue.

Cannot access the file

Windows Media Player cannot access the file because it was unable to download required security update to play DRM-protected content. You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:

  • You weren't connected to the Internet when the Player tried to update your DRM components.

  • You chose not to upgrade your DRM components when you were prompted.

Follow one or more of these steps to resolve the problem:

  • Check to be sure you are connected to the Internet. If so, go to the Security component upgrade page, and then click Upgrade. This will upgrade the DRM components on your computer.

  • If the error occurred during an upgrade to Windows Media Player 11, try uninstalling and then reinstalling Windows Media Player 11.

  • If the previous steps failed to resolve this error, you will need to reset your computer's DRM system by performing the following:

     To reset the Windows Media DRM system

    Resetting the Windows Media DRM system will not allow you to use your existing protected content, but it will allow to use protected content that you download in the future. To use your existing protected content, you will need to download new, valid media usage rights from your content provider. Consult your content provider for more information.
