Yes, Edge Secure Network is free for users signed into Edge with their personal Microsoft account. Every month, users get 5 GB of VPN data protection for free.
Edge Secure Network uses VPN technology to encrypt your internet connection, obscure your location and IP address, and keep your browsing activity private, so third parties and hackers cannot access your sensitive data. Private IP adds an additional layer of privacy by rerouting known trackers.
Note: Private IP is only available to turn on when Secure Network and Tracking Prevention are enabled. This means you can make purchases online, fill out personal forms, and browse websites with the peace of mind that bad actors cannot see your data.

To get started, sign into Microsoft Edge with your personal Microsoft account, and toggle on Edge Secure Network in your Edge Settings either at edge://settings/privacy/security, or by clicking on Settings and more in the top right corner of Edge, selecting More tools, and then Secure Network. You'll then be shown an overview of Edge Secure Network with the option to Get VPN for free you can select to enable. At this time, Edge Secure Network is not available for managed devices or in certain regions.

Users signed into Edge with their personal Microsoft account automatically receive 5 GB of free VPN data protection every month. To conserve your VPN data limit, content streaming sites such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and more, won't be routed through the Secure Network VPN service.
Edge Secure Network obscures your specific location and IP address from third parties, to prevent tracking and protect your privacy. Instead, websites and services will see a location that is geographically similar to yours, so you can still look up local movie times, nearby restaurants, and more – without compromising your personal data. Edge Secure Network VPN does not allow you to select a specific region or location for your traffic to route from.
