Important but overpriced
The feature is basic. But it is important. I do not understand why is it $300+ Most unhappy $300 paid in awhile. Also Remember to make sure your ethernet port is working, the older batch surface pro has plenty of complain that the ethernet port doesnt detects ip configuration properly, and requires u to disable/enable ur ethernet driver several times before getting it right once. I was given an old stock when I bought this with the christmas deal back in dec 2016, and the ethernet port is ****.

Great but not perfect
I bought this for my work place and is quite good that I do not need to carry my surface charger anywhere. But there is a few flaw, The display port is not working correctly. When I plug in my surface, the dock does not detect the monitor automatically and switch the extend. I have to unplug the display port then plug it back to for it to work. The display port also flicker the output image, so much so that I cant use the display port at the dock. Im forced to use the surface display port and to one monitor only. The 2nd thing is I run VM from my external hard disk. And for some reason the dock is either too slow for the VM or something else but my VM always crash and the disk usage shown on task manager goes to 100%. Using the only usb slot on surface works but I use the usb slot on surface for other thing. I do hope that Microsoft fix this.

Waste if you need to work with 4K monitor
Attaching 4k monitor is a constant nightmare - flickering screen. 4k monitor works perfectly well when connected to the surface book directly. Updating firmware of the dock does not work.

Work in progress
I bought the dock because I only needed to make one cable connection to convert my Surface pro 4 to a desktop PC. However after docking, the application icons do not translate well, become either too big on the monitor or too small on the Pro 4 unless you do a reboot. Moreover the text for some apps such as Viber, etc is too small so it's not readable. In short, a must have piece of kit but only after Microsoft have sorted out these issues.

Very heavy and require the power supply connected
Not sure if this is good or bad, but in from my point of view heavy is not a good thing. I use it on the go very often, and need the dock for the LAN port due to work requirement, and having the need to connect the dock to a power source just doesn't work for me. And yes, I know it's a dock, meaning it should stay at the desk, but I guess I just didn't read the spec carefully and didn't do my research properly before buying. Overall, it works as described, and on the flip side, with it being heavy, you won't knock this off your desk easily.
