My research is centred on analogue CMOS design, with a focus on developing compact, energy-efficient building blocks for computation. I am particularly interested in whether alternative approaches can deliver meaningful gains over conventional digital electronics in the era of machine learning and artificial intelligence. I currently contribute to an optical compute project, designing the electronic circuits that implement nonlinear functions.

Previously I worked on silica-glass data storage and optical networking. In the Human Experience and Design group, I explored connected play, prototyping technologies for new forms of social and entertainment experiences. My background is in radio and microwave frequency electronics, spanning simulation, circuit, and board-level design. My designs include high-speed, low-power, low-noise sensing, electro-optical and signal-processing systems, and microprocessor and FPGA firmware.
