Guoqing Liu (刘国庆) is a Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research AI for Science based in Cambridge, UK. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) (opens in new tab) through a joint program with Microsoft Research Asia, supervised by Dr. Tie-Yan Liu (opens in new tab) and Prof. Nenghai Yu (opens in new tab).

He believes that humans will develop AI agents for a broad spectrum of practical applications in the real world. These AI systems have the potential to advance our understanding of intelligence, boost productivity, and significantly enhance the quality of human life. Recently, he focuses on leveraging AI to accelerate scientific discovery. His research interests include reinforcement learning, large language models, high performance computing, game intelligence, and AI for Science.
