关于

I’m a Principal Researcher in Microsoft Research Health Futures, where I lead the Health Futures UK team. I am interested in how artificial intelligence can be used to better human health through assisting human experts, and accelerating scientific discovery in biomedicine. My research activities center around multimodal deep learning for health, being the development, evaluation, and understanding of models of clinical and biomedical data.

As part of Project MAIRA, I led the development of MAIRA-2 (opens in new tab), a multimodal large language model designed for radiology report generation. Earlier research includes the modelling of medical time series of the kind found in electronic health records, especially physiological time series from  ICU patients (opens in new tab). You can see more of my research on Google Scholar (opens in new tab).

Prior to joining Microsoft, I completed my PhD at Cornell University/Weill Cornell Medicine/Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Computational Biology and Medicine, and studied Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics at Trinity College Dublin (BA Mod.) and Cambridge University (Part III; MASt).
