I am a Principal Researcher in Microsoft Research India, as well as a Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (opens in new tab).  My broader research interests lie in deep learning, computer vision, multimodality, reasoning and explainable AI. My ongoing efforts at Microsoft focus on:

• Multimodality in Foundation Models (design, efficiency, evaluation — including generative models)
• Large Reasoning Models (including explorations on newer paradigms on learning via reasoning)

I also work on machine learning solutions for retrieval in LLMs, as well as applications of the above directions to trustworthy/safe AI, human-in-the-loop AI and healthcare.
