Michel Naim is a seasoned technology leader and Principal AS Manager based in Microsoft Egypt Dev Center, with deep expertise in Knowledge Extraction, Big Data, and Analytics. Michel has led impactful initiatives across Microsoft’s ecosystem, including work on Named Entity Extraction within Microsoft Office, and Fact Extraction and Grounding for Microsoft Bing, where precision and scalability were key to success.
Michel also contributed to the development and deployment of QnA Maker and LUIS Cognitive Services, enhancing natural language understanding and conversational AI capabilities. More recently, Michel has been involved with Clarity, applying advanced analytics to improve user experience and behavioral insights.
Michel Naim pursued his MSc at Ain-Shams University, Egypt, with a focus on information extraction from free text. His research included building a fine-grained entity classification framework using Wikipedia with minimal training data, competing in the WNUT Twitter NER shared task at COLING 2016 where his system ranked 5th out of 10, and developing analytics tools to generate timelines and heatmaps from Wikipedia. He later extended his framework to support multilingual entity classification and topic modeling, completing his MSc in January 2017.
