If you bought a qualifying PC
The upgrade fulfillment method may vary by PC manufacturer. When you buy a qualifying PC from a PC manufacturer that chose to participate in the Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program, you’ll generally need to fill in a form and follow a few steps to order your upgrade copy of Windows 7. Look for a form with redemption details in the packaging that came with your PC. If you bought a qualifying PC and can't find out how to get the upgrade, please check on the PC manufacturer’s web site.

What if I don't see my PC manufacturer listed?
Many additional PC manufacturers are participating in the Windows 7 Upgrade Option program. Please check with your PC manufacturer or retailer for more information about their offer. If you have an upgrade offer form already and wish to place an order, please reference the ordering information on that form.
If you bought a boxed copy of Windows Vista
The Windows 7 Upgrade Option program for packaged copies of Windows Vista has ended. For questions related to fulfillment of products purchased within the eligibility period, please contact your participating retailer directly for more info regarding terms and conditions. * For further information about the Windows 7 Upgrade Option, please see the FAQ. Here are the essential details: Windows 7 was available in market three years after Windows Vista availability. The Windows 7 Upgrade Option is available on selected PCs from participating manufacturers and for Windows Vista packaged product from participating retailers. The Windows 7 Upgrade Option applies to Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate editions. Your Windows 7 upgrade will be to the comparable version: so you'll get either Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional (the upgrade to Windows Vista Business), or Windows 7 Ultimate. The Windows 7 Upgrade Option program ran from June 26, 2009 through January 31, 2010. Individual manufacturers and retailers may have offered the option for a shorter period.
