SymphonyAI speeds app deployments, minimizes downtime with Microsoft Azure

SymphonyAI needed a way to unify disparate data sources; enhance ROI for retail customers and industrial data operations, develop deploy-anywhere container-based AI architecture, and improve overall network performance.

SymphonyAI worked with Microsoft to develop and deploy an advanced data and AI solution built upon Azure Kubernetes Service and Azure OpenAI Service.

With the Azure solution, SymphonyAI was able to help its customers unify siloed data sources, optimize data operations, increase ROI with predictive and generative AI, and deliver significant network performance improvements.

SymphonyAI

SymphonyAI is a global enterprise AI leader delivering tailored generative and predictive AI solutions that drive smarter decisions. In retail, their solution use cases include assortment optimization, planogram automation, demand forecasting, and personalized customer insights. In industrial sectors, capabilities span predictive maintenance, energy optimization, batch optimization, and connected worker solutions. Focused on customer-specific outcomes, SymphonyAI empowers organizations to boost efficiency, reduce costs, and unlock value through practical, high-impact AI tailored to real-world business needs.

“Traditionally these industries have been underinvested in AI, and it can take years for these advancements to come into the verticals,” said Raj Shukla, Chief Technology Officer at SymphonyAI. “For that purpose, I think the collaboration with Microsoft is great— we’re playing a very important role in shortening the life cycle to get AI into these traditional industries as fast as possible.”

SymphonyAI wanted to enable continuous deployment cycles, leverage autoscaling, and increase developer productivity for faster time to market. To achieve this, SymphonyAI worked with Microsoft to develop and deploy applications using the Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure OpenAI Services.

Streamlining AI workflows for growth and ROI

SymphonyAI was seeking to improve efficiency and increase ROI, both for itself and for its customers. The company needed a scalable, integrated solution that offered both hybrid and multi-cloud flexibility, and their customers needed a way to easily scale their predictive AI models to streamline workflows.

“With AKS, we don't have to worry about how things are running, availability, upgrades, etc. And having the efficiency, availability, and management that Azure OpenAI delivers is essential.”

Transformation with Microsoft Azure services

Azure Kubernetes Service helps SymphonyAI simplify the deployment, management, and scaling of its containerized applications in the cloud. Offering data analytics intelligence, Azure OpenAI Service enables SymphonyAI to build and deploy AI applications that use natural language processing, advanced analytics, and other capabilities.

“With AKS, we don't have to worry about how things are running, availability, upgrades, etc.,” said Shukla. “And having the efficiency, availability, and management that Azure OpenAI delivers is essential.” Azure OpenAI Service and AKS enable the SymphonyAI CINDE AI platform for retail customers to better anticipate and respond to their customer needs. The SymphonyAI IRIS Foundry DataOps platform for industrial customers uses AKS to offer a composable architecture to enable organizations to tailor AI workflows and applications to meet their specific needs.

Frictionless deployments at scale

Through cross-tenant CI/CD pipelines with AKS and Azure registries, SymphonyAI has significantly sped up deployments, reduced human error, and enabled customer-controlled updates. Combined with auto-scaling, the company has minimized downtime and ensured high performance—even as their customers’ data grows.

“Without our Microsoft collaboration, we would have had to invest a huge amount in infrastructure to accomplish what we have easily with Azure,” said Prateek Kathpal, President of SymphonyAI. “Building a trustable architecture, setting up governance capabilities, and configuring the DevOps and MLOps all take significant time and resources—and we got all of that in one place with Microsoft.”

“If not for our collaboration with Microsoft, we would have had to invest a huge amount in infrastructure to accomplish what we have easily with Azure.”

Looking ahead

With the AKS and Azure OpenAI Service solution in place, SymphonyAI is looking to expand their footprint. “We’ll be investing more in AI to accelerate our software development cycles, and in serverless AI functions that support on-demand AI processing,” said Kathpal. “We also plan to run the AI workloads closer to our users using AKS Edge Essentials and Azure IoT Operations to enhance our edge platform for industrial environments.” SymphonyAI is also evaluating semantic and cognitive search to better interpret complex queries and improve the relevance of search results.

SymphonyAI is pleased with the outcomes of the AKS and Azure OpenAI Service solution. According to Kathpal, “if not for our collaboration with Microsoft, we would have had to invest a huge amount in infrastructure to accomplish what we have easily with Azure.”
