Syntek Information Systems is currently building Yuhan-Kimberly's D2C platform on Azure. D2C refers to a form of business where a company sells directly to consumers, bypassing distributors, and operates through a D2C platform, a brand's own e-commerce platform. The platform, which is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026, will allow Yuhan-Kimberly to manage two applications that are operated by different targets.

For D2C projects like this, which require long development cycles and coordination across multiple internal departments, Yuhan-Kimberly faced challenges such as increasing technical complexity and the cost of retaining skilled developers. To ensure long-term maintainability with a small team, they needed high-quality code, AI-driven automation, and improved productivity. Syntek Information Systems successfully met these needs through the adoption of GitHub Enterprise. 
The most significant impact of introducing GitHub Enterprise has been the improvement in developer efficiency. By leveraging generative AI-powered code completion and suggestions, experienced developers have dramatically reduced the time required for coding and debugging. 

For example, it used to take 30 minutes to an hour on average just to find relevant code examples. With GitHub Copilot, developers can now locate what they need within 10 to 20 minutes, resulting in a time savings of roughly 60-70%. Similarly, debugging that previously took about an hour per function has been reduced to an average of 30 minutes, improving efficiency by approximately 50%. Syntek Information Systems plans to further advance its use of GitHub Copilot by developing templates that allow AI to automatically generate repetitive code patterns, thereby accelerating overall development productivity.

Alongside the adoption of GitHub Copilot, Syntek Information Systems implemented a phased training program to help developers effectively utilize the tool. The initial phase introduced GitHub Copilot’s core features and usage through a beginner-level course, providing developers with structured guidance on installation, configuration, and basic operation.

In the second phase, a hands-on workshop allowed developers to gain real-world experience using GitHub Copilot in actual development environments. Through these practice-oriented sessions, developers learned to apply Copilot across various programming languages and workflows.

This hands-on training approach significantly reduced the learning curve for new developers, streamlining the onboarding process. As a result, developers quickly became proficient in using AI-powered code generation and auto-completion features, leading to increased productivity across the organization. 

Synergies from the partnership with Microsoft

GitHub Enterprise provides multi-language support, and even Korean queries are answered accurately through the chat feature, which has revolutionized developer productivity. Unlike IaaS, PaaS provides a higher level of abstraction, eliminating the need for manual server and network configurations. It enables faster deployment of applications and supports auto-scaling, thereby maximizing development productivity and operational efficiency. As PaaS environments are particularly well-suited for integrating AI technologies, this approach is gaining traction as a preferred development model.

Meanwhile, Director Jaesung Park emphasizes the need to redefine developers’ roles in today’s rapidly changing development environment. While full-stack developers, those proficient in both backend and frontend, were once considered rare, the ability to engage in ‘pair programming’ with generative AI is becoming a must-have skill. Generative AI tools now allow developers to work across a wider range of programming languages, making versatile developers increasingly valuable. With the adoption of GitHub Copilot, Syntek Information Systems has established an AI-powered development environment that enables faster and more efficient project execution. In the future, the company also plans to leverage Microsoft Copilot Studio on Azure, anticipating that future projects like the one with Yuhan-Kimberly will go beyond platform development to include AI agents such as virtual assistants and chatbots.
