Working with Microsoft partner TP, formerly Teleperformance, LanguageLine migrated one of its Microsoft Azure tenants that it recently acquired through an acquisition to a new environment that gave the company improved control and clarity. TP’s technical expertise empowered the team to solve complex challenges that required custom solutions beyond standard migration approaches, such as how to handle systems that required specialized decryption and re-encryption processes. Connecting people across languages using technology

With its legacy managed services provider, LanguageLine’s team members encountered numerous bottlenecks as the organization experienced rapid growth. Simple requests in this area sometimes took days to complete, impacting response time to customers. When the managed services contract neared its expiration, the company saw an opportunity to streamline its infrastructure and improve its service.

Building a partnership for seamless migration

LanguageLine collaborated with TP, its parent company and a global leader in service delivery and solution implementation, to migrate the acquired Azure subscription to a unified tenant. The company evaluated multiple providers, but most either lacked the expertise or the confidence to accomplish the migration. TP stood out for its technical knowledge and clear understanding of the challenges ahead. “When we discussed our needs with the TP team, it was very obvious they knew exactly what to do,” says Hoq. “This immediately put us at ease.”

The migration required careful planning to avoid any downtime that could disrupt customer services. TP used Azure Virtual Machines insights to map out configurations, dependencies, and critical applications. The partner also created a custom migration strategy tailored to LanguageLine’s needs. This included the secure handling of encrypted systems and maintaining zero interruption to Power BI reporting, which LanguageLine uses to create reports for its customers every day.

LanguageLine relied on encrypted Linux virtual machines to run critical applications, but these systems couldn’t be migrated with standard methods. So, a LanguageLine developer proposed a custom decryption and re-encryption process. The migration elevated LanguageLine’s performance. Resource deployment time dropped from up to two days down to just two hours—a 92% improvement in operational efficiency. The company also saves on annual Azure subscription costs. “We saved 20% just by migrating to the unified tenant, which was fantastic,” says Hoq.

The IT team gained significant control over the infrastructure. “We were limited to what we could see, and certain areas had zero visibility, like Azure cost management,” says Hoq. “I now have full visibility into billing, and I can manage our monthly costs better.” This visibility has also strengthened LanguageLine’s security posture, making it easier to identify and mitigate potential risks across its Azure tenant.
