Replit and Microsoft Azure enable enterprise software building for every Hexaware employee

As Replit expanded its agent-driven software creation platform into large enterprises, it needed a cloud foundation that could support secure, governed, and scalable deployment of AI-built applications.

Replit chose Microsoft Azure to enable secure, compliant, and scalable app creation with seamless procurement, deployment, and management.

With Azure and Marketplace, Replit is able to accelerate go-to-market and gain access to hundreds of thousands of Microsoft enterprise customers like Hexaware.

Replit’s mission: Empower the next billion software creators

Throughout the history of computing, programming has been both a powerful skill and a meaningful career path—but it hasn’t always been accessible to everyone. Amjad Masad, the founder of Replit, has seen firsthand how learning to code can change lives. Born in Amman, Jordan, Masad moved to the United States, where he worked as a founding engineer at Codecademy and later as a core engineer on React at Meta.

In 2017, Masad left Meta to start Replit with a bold mission: make software creation accessible to the next billion people. For years, Replit focused on building a lower-friction, code-first platform that removed setup barriers and made development faster—but reaching the scale of one billion software creators demanded a different approach. Many potential builders didn’t want to learn to code at that depth. That insight led Replit to evolve—introducing agent-driven software creation for non-developers. Powered by deep integration with Microsoft Azure, this shift is now enabling software creation inside some of the world’s largest enterprises, including Hexaware.

“I remember being frustrated at how hard it was to start programming,” Masad said. “We wanted to build a place where you just describe what you want, and an AI builds the software.” That idea became Replit: a natural-language, full-stack software development environment where an AI agent can:

  • Understand natural language requests

  • Architect the solution

  • Provision Azure resources

  • Write, test, and debug code

  • Deploy a working app with one click

From weeks to minutes: who can build software now

What once took teams weeks or months now happens in minutes. And the impact goes far beyond engineering teams.

Today, Replit is used not only by software engineers, but also by designers, product managers, operations teams, finance functions, and customer support roles. In fact, 75% of Replit’s enterprise users are not software engineers.

Every role has ideas. Every role has work that can be automated. And now, every role can build software.

For enterprises like Hexaware, this shift fundamentally changes how innovation happens—moving it closer to the people who understand the problems best.

Why Microsoft was the natural enterprise partner

As Replit expanded into the enterprise, Microsoft emerged as a natural partner.

“Microsoft was a natural choice for a partner, because our customers were already asking for integrations with Microsoft Azure. Microsoft has customers all over the world, and we share some of those customers.” explained Amjad Masad. “Azure allows you to get on the cloud very easily, gives you access to expertise to architect and design your systems to be scalable. It's a huge accelerator.”

Replit’s natural-language development platform becomes even more powerful when paired with Azure. Enterprises trust Azure. They rely on it for compliance, security, governance, and scale. Replit integrates seamlessly into that ecosystem. With Azure, Replit’s AI agent can autonomously:

  • Provision databases, storage, and compute

  • Apply enterprise guardrails and governance

  • Deploy applications securely with one click

  • Inherit Azure’s compliance posture from day one

“As the software development agent, Replit agent is developing the software, it is actually provisioning Azure Services and building the app on top of that platform. And when the customer is ready to deploy that up with one click, it can be up on Azure and running.” stated Amjad Masad. Microsoft Marketplace accelerates go-to-market and opens doors to hundreds of thousands of Microsoft enterprise customers. “Microsoft Marketplace offers amazing distribution. Our customers want to buy Replit here,” stated Masad. “Customers light up when they hear Replit is integrated with Azure. It makes procurement effortless and builds immediate trust.”

Hexaware + Replit: Potent combination for enterprise clients

Hexaware is an AI-first global IT services company that saw Replit not as just another tool, but as a catalyst for enterprise-wide change. The goal was ambitious: empower every employee—regardless of technical background—to turn ideas into working software.

There were simply more ideas than engineers available to implement them. As Hexaware CTO Satyajith Mundakkal puts it, “Ideas were getting stuck in long development cycles. Many never saw the light of day.”

Hexaware wanted to democratize development without compromising security, governance, or quality. Replit made that possible.

“Hexaware and Replit are a very potent combination for enterprise clients,” Mundakkal explained. “We realized we could build applications securely, quickly, and with great flexibility—without needing to write a line of code.”

“We evaluated multiple vendors for AI-assisted coding,” Mundakkal stated. “Replit was far superior. They listened. They customized it for the enterprise. They delivered faster than anyone else.” Hexaware began with rapid prototyping but quickly realized Replit wasn’t just a sandbox. It was production-grade.

With Replit, employees who had never touched code suddenly became product builders. A receptionist built an internal productivity tool. Business analysts shipped workflow automation apps. Consultants walked into client meetings with full prototypes they built themselves. “When someone creates the product themselves, they get deeply attached to it,” Mundakkal said. “They own it. That’s the IKEA effect, and it’s driving a wave of innovation inside our company.”

Making software creation accessible to more people is only part of the equation. For enterprise use, those applications must also meet rigorous standards for security, governance, and scalability. This is where Microsoft Azure complements Replit’s agent-driven development model—providing the enterprise foundation that allows software built through Replit to run reliably in production environments.

Deep integration with Microsoft Azure

The combination of Replit and Azure introduces a new enterprise-ready model for software creation, uniting speed, security, and scalability. Replit’s Agent 3 compresses development cycles from weeks to minutes, while Azure’s built-in governance provides immediate enterprise-grade compliance, and its Marketplace enables effortless global deployment.

Replit’s enterprise customers already on Azure can now deploy Replit-built applications directly to Azure, ensuring modern architecture and security best practices while keeping all resources within a single cloud environment. This enables lower latency, improved reliability, and simpler enterprise-grade operations.

Replit’s decision to build deep integration with Azure was both strategic and personal. “My first programming experience was on Visual Basic,” Masad recalled. “Microsoft was the company that made software creation accessible. In many ways, that vision inspired Replit.” Azure brings global reach, enterprise-grade compliance, massive customer base, trusted brand, and a cloud services catalog that unlocks enormous power for AI agents. Leveraging Azure technologies such as Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Foundry, Azure Container Apps, Azure Compute, and Azure DDOS for Network Security, Replit was able to build their Azure-native solutions.

Replit's AI integrations leverage Microsoft Foundry for zero-config AI inference at deploy-time. Azure Container Apps enables Replit to deploy AI-ready robust applications, agents, and automations. As Luis Héctor Chávez, CTO of Replit explains “Azure Container Apps allowed us to deploy Replit-built apps to Azure in a record amount of time, thanks to its scale-to-zero and simplified deployment strategies.”

What this means for enterprises

By enabling employees to build software using natural language, Replit is expanding who can participate in software creation—while Microsoft Azure ensures those applications meet enterprise standards for security, governance, and scale.

Together, they are redefining how quickly ideas can move from concept to production inside large organizations. Hexaware demonstrates what this model looks like in practice. By combining Replit’s agent-driven development platform with Azure’s enterprise foundation, Hexaware has enabled employees across roles to build, deploy, and own software—without compromising compliance or reliability.

“The potential for unlocking a billion people to be able to create software is an incredibly inspiring mission for us,” said Amjad Masad, CEO of Replit.

With Microsoft Azure providing the trusted enterprise platform, and Replit enabling a new generation of builders, this approach shows how enterprises can scale innovation safely—empowering more people to build software while maintaining the controls global organizations depend on.
