Regard integrates their AI platform with Microsoft Dragon Copilot

Regard needed a secure, scalable way to embed its AI into clinicians’ workflows and quickly expand to more health systems without long security reviews or complex integrations, making Microsoft Dragon Copilot the ideal fit.

Regard chose Microsoft Dragon Copilot for its deep integration into a physician’s workflow and trusts Microsoft Marketplace to scale and accelerate their path to go-to-market.

By teaming up with Microsoft Dragon Copilot, Regard helps clinicians catch missed diagnoses, improve documentation accuracy, reduce burnout, and scale AI insights across patient records.

In intensive care units across the country, physicians are making life-and-death decisions while navigating an overwhelming flood of data. For Dr. David Kirk, Chief Medical Officer at Regard and a 25-year ICU veteran, that challenge is deeply personal.

“To truly treat a patient, you need their entire story,” Dr. Kirk said. “It’s all right there in their medical record. But on a typical visit, I’m only able to read 3% of it. So, every day I wonder, did I miss anything?”

That tension between the plethora of electronic health record (EHR) data and the limits of human bandwidth is the problem that Regard was built to solve. Now, through a strategic partnership with Microsoft Dragon Copilot and Microsoft Marketplace, the company is scaling its solution faster than ever.

Tens of thousands of data points for each patient

Modern electronic health records were designed for bookkeeping, not bedside decision making. As Dr. Kirk describes it, caring for a patient today can feel like being handed a 100-page book and only having time to read three pages.

“The electronic health record is so complex, and getting more complex every day,” he said. “There are tens of thousands of data points in the average patient’s medical record.”

Missing even a single data point can have consequences. Interactions between medications, overlooked chronic conditions, or undocumented diagnoses can impact outcomes, quality scores, and reimbursement. Physicians often carry that burden home.

“You go home at night and say, ‘Is this patient going to have a bad outcome because I didn’t have the time to go through 100% of the chart?’” Dr. Kirk said.

AI that reads 100% of the patient’s chart

Regard’s answer is simple in concept, but powerful in execution: read everything.

“We developed Regard, an AI platform that reads 100% of the medical record, to make sure that nothing gets missed,” Dr. Kirk explained.

Regard ingests and reviews all available clinical data in the EHR, labs, imaging, notes, and prior visits. It runs more than 200 clinical algorithms daily on every patient. While a physician might review only 3% of a chart, Regard reviews it all.

“What makes Regard unique is our ability to make new diagnoses,” Dr. Kirk explained. “With our over 200 clinical algorithms, we will make new diagnoses. And these are the new diagnoses that will often get missed if a piece of software like Regard is not in the loop.”

According to Regard co-founder Nate Wilson, Regard has already delivered those insights at scale.

“To date, we’ve done that over 12 million times,” Wilson said. “And each one of those diagnoses represents better care, but sometimes it represents the difference between a patient going home to their family or not.”

Beyond surfacing diagnoses, Regard drafts documentation supported by clinical evidence, ensuring physicians have both insight and context before they even enter the room. Many clinicians describe it as an “AI resident,” a tireless assistant reviewing 50,000 data points, so nothing slips through the cracks.

“Regard makes me a better doctor,” Dr. Kirk said. “I go home at night realizing that nothing got missed.”

Partnership with Microsoft

As Regard expanded, the company faced a new challenge of how to scale responsibly and integrate seamlessly into clinician workflows already strained by burnout.

That’s where Microsoft came in. Microsoft Dragon Copilot, an AI assistant for clinical workflow is deeply integrated into a physician's workflow, which is incredibly powerful. And through Microsoft Marketplace, health systems can discover, procure, and deploy vetted AI solutions more quickly, often using existing cloud credits.

“Microsoft is the most trusted partner in healthcare,” Wilson said. “Between the governance and compliance, and how they think about AI, it really was a no-brainer for us to partner with them.”

Wilson cited Microsoft’s HIPAA compliance, SOC 2 compatibility, and established governance frameworks as critical differentiators. “The fact that they already had that governance and compliance set up was turnkey. Off the shelf, it was an easy partner for us to work with.”

Equally important was distribution speed. “By partnering with Microsoft Marketplace, we’re able to bring Regard to market faster by the tune of months to years faster, in some cases,” Wilson said.

Because many health systems have already vetted Microsoft, adding Regard as an extension requires significantly less paperwork, fewer security reviews, and reduced integration time.

Regard integration with Microsoft Dragon Copilot

The partnership goes deeper than distribution. Regard is integrated directly into Microsoft Dragon Copilot, and captures and structures clinical conversations in real time.

“When a patient comes in, Dragon Copilot captures the story. It captures the conversations and brings them into the chart,” Dr. Kirk explained. “Then you have Regard going through the entire electronic medical record. It’s an amazing one-two punch.”

Before a visit, Regard surfaces insights in-workflow inside Dragon Copilot. During the visit, Dragon Copilot captures the conversation. Afterward, Regard ensures both the in-room discussion and years of historical data are reflected accurately in documentation.

“Dragon Copilot facilitates the work,” Dr. Kirk said, “and Regard is the engine that makes sure that it is powered with all the data and information they need.”

The result is better care and better documentation without adding burden.

“Our clients come to us when they know they have opportunities around documentation, and they don’t want to put that burden on their physicians’ backs,” Dr. Kirk said. “Having accurate documentation does so much. It provides for the best care possible. It improves quality scores and appropriate reimbursement.”

Wilson added that seamless integration matters just as much as the intelligence behind it. “Everything that really matters for the clinician is ease of use, access, and efficiency. We’re able to couple the diagnostic insights we derive from patient data into a seamless workflow that’s already saving clinicians’ time.”

Better outcomes, better scores, less burnout

Health systems using Regard report improvements across clinical, operational, and financial metrics:

  • Net-new diagnoses surfaced daily across more than 200 conditions

  • Over 12 million diagnostic insights delivered to date

  • Improved quality scores and risk adjustment accuracy

  • Reduced denials and more appropriate reimbursement

  • Shortened sales and integration cycles by months through Microsoft Marketplace

  • Reduced clinician burnout by eliminating after-hours chart review

“When you catch a net-new diagnosis, it has the chance to actually improve care and deliver a better outcome for that patient,” Wilson said.

And for physicians like Dr. Kirk, the impact is emotional as well as operational.

“The collaboration between Dragon Copilot and Regard is finally a tool that empowers physicians to be able to access all this information and make sure nothing is missed,” he said. “That I, as an ICU physician, can go home at night and not worry that I missed something that could’ve hurt one of my patients.”

What’s next

Regard has already proven its impact in inpatient settings. With Microsoft Dragon Copilot, the company is expanding into outpatient care, accelerating global reach through Microsoft Marketplace, and exploring AI-driven treatment recommendations beyond diagnosis.

“What we get really excited about is what comes next,” Wilson said. “After you have a diagnosis, we can help recommend the best possible treatment.”

The company’s long-term vision is ambitious. Not only is it to ensure every patient receives the current standard of care, but it is also to advance that standard altogether.

“We believe every patient deserves world-class care,” Wilson said. “When you embrace AI technologies like Dragon Copilot and Regard, you can fundamentally improve how we deliver care.”

In a healthcare system straining under complexity, Regard positions itself not as a replacement for physicians but as a tireless ally. By pairing its deep clinical intelligence with Microsoft’s trusted infrastructure and ecosystem, the company is scaling a simple promise to read everything, miss nothing, and give every patient their full story.
