The ambitious startup plans to revolutionise the waste management industry through its innovative automation solutions based on machine vision, artificial intelligence and robotics.
Through the development of these new technologies, the company wants to help the waste management industry fulfil its crucial role in managing the earth’s resources more effectively.
The Recycleye Vision solution brings total transparency to the waste management industry, by detecting everything on a waste management facility’s conveyor belts and identifying it in granular detail.
This machine vision solution can be deployed at a fraction of the cost of other solutions because it is based on low-cost hardware. It uses the same cameras as are typically found in mobile phones.
To train the machine vision solution, millions of images and data points have been collected from waste facilities. Benedetta Delfino is the computer vision engineer at Recycleye. She says building the solution on Microsoft Azure gave Recycleye the scalability essential for such a project. As Recycleye’s datasets continue to grow, the company can easily scale up its resources in line with requirements.
Delfino also emphasises the importance of security in the company’s decision to build its solutions using Microsoft Azure. This enables Recycleye to protect its intellectual property and competitive advantage. “Security is very important,” she says, “because if our data is secure, our models are secure.”
CEO and founder of Recycleye Victor Dewulf agrees that “having a robust platform is key” if the company is going to fulfil its ambition of becoming the operating system of the waste management industry.
