Spinx unified its data across systems with LevelShift and Microsoft Fabric

Spinx is looking to break free from internal barriers caused by data silos, enhance decision making, and accelerate business growth to drive smarter and more connected data solutions.

Through Microsoft Fabric and LevelShift’s guidance, Spinx was able to move its data to a single data lake and eliminated manual data handling, accelerated reporting processes, and unlocked powerful insights at the item and promotion level.

Spinx can now use real-time analytics to understand which promotions drive incremental sales and which repurpose existing ones, helping protect margins and maximize gross profit.

In today’s data-driven business environment, organizations are seeking smarter ways to streamline operations, eliminate inefficiencies, and unlock long-term profitability. LevelShift, a key Microsoft partner, is helping companies do just that by leveraging Microsoft Fabric—a unified data platform built for the era of AI.

Spinx, a South Carolina-based convenience and fuel retail company, was no stranger to the complexity of managing operations across multiple locations and service areas, from food and beverage to car washes. Spinx is looking to break free from internal barriers caused by data silos, enhance decision making, and accelerate business growth by harnessing the power of Microsoft Fabric to drive smarter, more connected data solutions.

LevelShift is an industry-focused AI Transformation Partner that brings together the strengths of PreludeSys, DemandBlue, and DemandDynamics. Born from PreludeSys’s legacy of technology enablement, LevelShift marks a strategic shift from horizontal solutions to vertical, industry-specific AI transformation. The company brings a strategic and hands-on approach to data unification, analytics, and business intelligence, helping clients derive actionable insights from even the most complex environments. With dozens of Microsoft Fabric-certified consultants, LevelShift is uniquely positioned to implement and optimize Fabric for a wide range of use cases.

Microsoft and LevelShift partnership

What sets LevelShift apart is not just its technical capability, but its commitment to becoming a true partner to its clients. The company doesn’t just deliver solutions, it embeds itself in the customer’s business to align outcomes with long-term strategy. LevelShift uses Microsoft Fabric internally as well, giving its teams firsthand experience that directly informs and strengthens the work they do for customers across industries like retail, finance, and manufacturing.

As a strategic Microsoft partner, LevelShift has been at the forefront of adopting and promoting Microsoft Fabric as the next-generation unified platform for data and the foundation for AI transformation. This collaboration allows LevelShift to offer customers a powerful combination of Microsoft’s cutting-edge technologies and LevelShift’s domain expertise. Microsoft Fabric’s out-of-the-box integration capabilities, connecting over 170 data sources from on-prem systems to multi-cloud environments, are amplified by LevelShift’s ability to design and implement intelligent data strategies tailored to each client.

“We believe this is the unified platform for the era of AI that we are living in, especially being able to unify, connect, and collect data across numerous heterogeneous databases using Fabric out-of-the-box,” said Kumar Vellore, LevelShift Managing Director Data and AI.

This tight alignment with Microsoft has positioned LevelShift as a trusted advisor in helping organizations transition from siloed, legacy systems to future-ready, scalable platforms. Their partnership is not only rooted in shared technology, but in a shared vision for empowering organizations through secure, accessible, and actionable data.

“It quickly became apparent when we started our data journey that we needed to find a solution provider that could build the framework that supported our company initiative to modernize our data. We conducted several in-depth interviews and vendor evaluations to help us facilitate our priority goals around the design, architecture, reporting insights, and security… We went looking for a vendor and what we found through our evaluation process was instead, a partner in LevelShift," said Jay Dowswell, Systems Manager at Spinx.

Transforming Spinx with Microsoft Fabric

Despite being data-aware, Spinx faced mounting challenges due to fragmented data systems, manual processes, and limited visibility into performance metrics. LevelShift stepped in as both a strategic and technical partner, helping Spinx implement Microsoft Fabric to unify its data across systems like Oracle, SQL Server, and third-party platforms. By building a single data lake using Fabric, Spinx eliminated manual data handling, accelerated reporting processes, and unlocked powerful insights at the item and promotion level. Real-time analytics now enable the company to understand which promotions drive incremental sales and which repurpose existing ones, helping protect margins and maximize gross profit.

“Using Fabric to get all your data in one place, then you can start building things like machine learning on top of that and starting creating AI models to see outcomes, predict customer churn, look for cross-sell and upsell opportunities for customers, based on their pain points and based on the tech stack alignment,” explained Vellore.

Additionally, Spinx can now tie operational data from its ticketing platform and IoT-enabled hardware (like car washes) into a single system, enabling quick diagnoses of site issues and better planning. Geographical Information System (GIS) APIs, that enable developers to integrate geospatial capabilities into their applications, and demographic overlays support smarter site selection, positioning the business for strategic expansion.

“Moving to Fabric, having the consolidation of databases, we're now able to see and answer problems that we didn't know existed,” said Dowswell.

Through Microsoft Fabric and LevelShift’s guidance, Spinx has moved from reactive to proactive operations, built a foundation for AI, and solidified its ability to grow efficiently while staying true to its customer-first mission.
