What you need to access Frontier features
Frontier feature access depends on your role and subscription. Find out what you need before you start experimenting.
Copilot license
You must have an active Microsoft 365 Copilot for Business license assigned to your account. Without a Copilot license, Frontier features will not appear.
Organization enrollment
Your organization must opt in to Frontier in the Microsoft 365 admin center. If Frontier is not enabled at the user or tenant level, features will not be available.
Admin-managed access
Your IT admin may control which Frontier agents are available. Even if Frontier is enabled, access may vary by user or group.

How to access Frontier features
If your organization has opted you into the Frontier program, you can begin exploring innovative AI features.
Frontier agents are available in the Microsoft 365 Copilot Agent Store
Agent availability depends on your organization’s settings.
- Step 1. Sign in to your Microsoft account
- Step 2. Open Copilot Chat
- Step 3. Go to “Agent Store” and look for agents labelled “Frontier”
Early-access AI features built into Microsoft 365 apps
Frontier features appear directly within Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, and other Copilot experiences. Once enabled, these features surface inside the apps your organization already uses.
- Step 1. Sign in to Microsoft 365
- Step 2. Open supported apps such as Word or Excel
- Step 3. Ensure you are using the Insiders or Current Channels
A task-based Copilot experience for structured AI work
Opal is a dedicated Copilot experience designed to help users complete structured tasks using AI agents. It is accessed through the Microsoft 365 Copilot app or website and is enabled as part of Frontier.
- Step 1. Sign in to your Microsoft account
- Step 2. Open Copilot Chat
- Step 3. Look for Project Opal in the navigation
A Windows 365 Cloud PC configured for AI-enabled experiences
AI Cloud PC is a Windows 365 Cloud PC configured to support AI-enabled capabilities during Frontier. It provides a managed, cloud-based environment for running AI features with appropriate enterprise controls.
- Step 1. Sign in to your Cloud PC
- Step 2. Use supported AI-enabled experiences within your environment
- Step 3. If you do not see AI capabilities, contact your IT admin
