The kind of Swiss Army knife that is a Windows 10 machine just tends to offer better adaptability. What we find with our Windows 10 based devices is they can pivot quickly—with a capacity for applications, policies, and settings to be added more easily, as well as broader support for educational software.

Microsoft offers many device program options designed to fit diverse needs:
    • Loaner laptops
    • Early graduation gifts (Higher Education): Schools will allow a student to use the laptop while enrolled, giving the ownership to the student upon graduation. If the student leaves the school, the laptop must be returned.
    • Payment plans: (for Higher Education) Some schools set up payment plans allowing students to gradually pay off the price of the laptop. When the student graduates, the laptop will belong to him or her.
    • Institution or District or Ministries of Education portals: Some schools create their own tech shops, offering preferred devices, at the right price.

We can help you select the right connectivity option, for your needs, including:
        • Rural broadband access: Microsoft is committed to connectivity and student inclusiveness. The Microsoft Airband Initiative partners with ISPs in rural communities across many US states. View the Airband project map.
        • Public WiFi hotspots: Microsoft and our Airband ISP partners are deploying hundreds of WiFi hotspots in public areas, allowing community members to safely access the internet while practicing social distancing. (Find locations in IN, IL, OH; WA. More added as available).
        • Eduroam connectivity: eduroam global Wi-Fi roaming service is free-of-charge to users. With eduroam installed on a laptop, mobile phone, or other device there’s no need to request special accounts or borrow other people’s IDs – just activate the device and get online.
        • Starry Connect Connectivity: Microsoft and Starry Connect have partnered to provide a new wave of wireless internet service, or WISPs, where customers then connect to a modem and wireless router to get Wi-Fi in their homes.

Windows 10 is the most secure Windows to-date, protecting school data and student/educator personally identifiable information (PII). With Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) provided by one of the largest threat intelligence networks, cyber threats are constantly monitored. Data is not collected for ads, and is not shared without your permission. Windows supports international and regional standards such as FERPA, GDPR, and HIPPA.

With Intune for Education, a cloud-based, mobile device management (MDM) service for schools and institutions, you can easily manage devices, users, and apps, allowing educators and students to stay productive on their devices while keeping school and student data secured. With your subscription, we can help you deploy Intune for Education at no additional cost.

Windows Autopilot is a cloud-based provisioning technology that's used in schools to easily set up and pre-configure new devices, getting them ready for productive use during the school year.

Device-based conditional access means Intune and Azure Active Directory work together to make sure only managed and compliant devices can access email, Office 365 services, Software as a Service (SaaS) apps, and on-premises apps. Additionally, you can set a policy in Azure Active Directory to only enable only domain-joined computers or mobile devices that are enrolled in Intune to access Office 365 services.
