Mania de Churrasco! faced the challenge of expanding its units due to the low data visibility offered by its decentralized technology platforms

With the support of Qualiserve and SND Distribuição, the franchisor unified its processes using three Microsoft solutions: Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft 365.

From the implementation, Barbecue Mania! achieved high efficiency, security and scalability in its operations, in addition to improving its data intelligence, which indirectly participated in a 20% increase in sales year on year.

Mania de Churrasco! was founded to bring the big steakhouse experience to shopping malls. Since opening its first store in 2001, the chain has seen consistent growth. In 2012, they began franchising and now boast over 100 Prime Steak & Burger stores in Brazil's top shopping centers. With 2,000 employees, they handle more than 700,000 transactions monthly.

The need for transformation

Mania de Churrasco! faced significant challenges in expanding its stores and franchisees. It became evident that a robust and secure technological environment was essential to support and drive the company's evolution, leveraging automation and data intelligence. The company sought to centralize management across multiple platforms to enhance business visibility.

"We managed data from all our stores across five different systems, making it difficult to make informed decisions. Microsoft played a crucial role in centralizing our operations and reducing management complexity in several areas," says Fabio Sola, Executive Head of Technology and Innovation at Mania de Churrasco!.

A successful partnership and continuous support

To tackle this complex challenge, Qualiserve, experts in technological implementations, assessed the environment and recommended Microsoft solutions. The transformation began with migrating data to Microsoft Azure and integrating legacy databases. Previously fragmented sensitive information and data structures were centralized in Microsoft Cloud, now via Microsoft Fabric.

Kleber Rodrigues, CEO at Qualiserve, explained that Mania de Churrasco! restaurants benefited from three Microsoft solutions: Microsoft Azure (including Microsoft Power Virtual Agents, now part of Microsoft Copilot Studio), Microsoft Power Platform (which includes Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Power Apps, Microsoft Power Automate), and Microsoft 365. These tools facilitated collaboration and indicator visualization at the stores.

Applied across all units, these metrics provided the main office with a comprehensive view of sales performance, inventory management, employees, and other key aspects, representing a unique feature in the franchise sector. "Only Microsoft has this level of totally integrated solution," emphasized Rodrigues.

Business impact of adopting Azure, Power Platform, and Microsoft 365

The implementation of Microsoft solutions fostered a culture of high performance and efficiency, driven by data indicators and a comprehensive view of franchisee performance.

Centralizing data on Azure and utilizing Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics resulted in savings of R$3.5 million over five years. This cost reduction was crucial during the pandemic, enabling quick responses and vital business adaptations.

With an integrated solution and centralized data, the chain improved operational efficiency by correlating sales, personnel, and system information. By crossing data from the sales system (integrated via Microsoft Azure and Microsoft SQL Server), automating personnel data capture with Microsoft Power Apps and Microsoft SharePoint, and integrating the self-service system (also via Azure and SQL), they developed an ideal service model for each restaurant using self-service totems. This transformation and digitalization of services led to a 90% share in digital sales for all commercial transactions at Mania de Churrasco! Prime Steak & Burger chain.

Additionally, this integration enabled the company to maintain a 99.3% success rate in order integrations between the POS (point of sale) systems and self-service.

The company has not encountered any new information security issues, reinforcing trust in the implemented systems. Approximately 1,000 users access the process safely and efficiently, enhancing the group's competitive advantages with this robust protection layer.

Another significant improvement was the reduction in turnover, which is typically very high in the restaurant and franchise industry, sometimes reaching up to 100%. By implementing a solution with Power Apps, based on rewards and centralized via a Power BI dashboard that consolidates employee information, the chain increased employee satisfaction and engagement through its excellence program (PEX). This program assesses three company pillars: quality and standard, service, and management, each with three criteria. The combined scores form a monthly ranking for each restaurant, and at the end of the year, the top-performing restaurants are rewarded. As a result, Mania de Churrasco! reduced turnover to less than 50%, retaining employees at both managerial and entry levels.

Fábio explains the solution structure. "We gather information on the quality and standard of third-party systems connected and integrated with Azure and Power BI, which helps us control product quality and store security. For service level criteria, we use automation via Power Automate, Power Apps, and Lists to log customer service tickets, then transform this data into numbers and calculations in Power BI for scoring. For management, we use automation between Power Apps and Lists to produce data on store personnel and purchase distribution. Previously, this required merging more than eight Excel spreadsheets, but now it is 100% integrated and centralized."

In addition to reducing turnover, the company significantly improved its business reputation across various platforms. For instance, 99% of the chain's restaurants have ratings above 4.7 stars on Google Maps. This high rating is also reflected on delivery apps like iFood and reputation platforms such as Reclame Aqui, where the score exceeds 8.0 with a GREEN (GREAT) badge according to the website's methodology. The company boasts a 99.6% resolution rate for complaints, with approximately 75% positive reversals over the past 12 months.

According to Fabio Sola, Microsoft solutions brought security and efficiency to the processes. “This new scenario brings competitive advantages to the company. We increased our confidence levels with all data,” he adds.

A future with artificial intelligence and new integrations

Mania de Churrasco! is poised to take its technology to the next level with the implementation of artificial intelligence solutions.

"With data history from Mania de Churrasco! since 2017, we apply trend and prediction curve models within our data warehouse on Azure. We've already connected the model from Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service to create the first structures of Microsoft Copilot, and the company has started to benefit from this process," explains Kleber Rodrigues, CEO at Qualiserve. "Mania de Churrasco! has a strong data-driven culture, which facilitates the adoption of artificial intelligence. We are applying new predictive models to purchases, sales, inventory, and structuring. Additionally, we are using models, especially for training, providing a robust informational scale, since everything is integrated in Microsoft SharePoint," he adds.
