Lalit is a mechanical engineer with a keen interest in mechanical design and computing.  He likes to work with interdisciplinary teams and is always curious to learn different technologies.

He joined Microsoft in May, 2018, in the Microsoft Surface new product development team and has been part of the Applied Sciences Group since July, 2019.  Before joining Microsoft, he worked for two years as a mechanical design engineer on the design and development of Jaguar and Land Rover cars at Tata Technologies in India.

Lalit earned his master’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington with a specialization in controls and computing.  During this time he worked as a research assistant at the Veterans’ Administration hospital.  While there he applied haptics and virtual reality to improve the lives of amputees by developing a prosthetic limb that provides haptic feedback.

In his leisure time he enjoys computer games, reading technology articles, singing, and travelling.
